11.5 Maintenance
11.5.1 Clean the sensor
To prevent damage to some sensors, do not use solvents that dissolve plastic to clean the sensors.
Note: It may be necessary to clean the sensor more frequently if the sensor is used in environments with sediment
(i.e., silt), mineral precipitate, biofilms, barnacles or pollutants such as oil.
1. Clean the sensor with:
• Mild detergent
• Non-toxic, degreasing solution, such as Simple Green
Makers, Inc.)
• Warm water
• Clean, soft toothbrush
• Soft cloth and/or cotton swabs
If necessary, soak the sensor in clean water for at least 30 minutes to make the contamination
softer and easier to remove.
Note: Do not use dishwashing liquid to clean the sensor. Dishwashing liquid and household cleaners with skin
moisturizer can put a film on the sensor.
2. Rinse the sensor with clean water.
3. If the substance cannot be removed, contact technical support.
11.5.2 Replace the sensor cap
Replace the sensor cap:
• When the top surface of the sensor cap has sufficient scratches that measurements are not
accurate
• At least one time a year
In the LDO sensor settings screen of the Hydrolab Operating Software, select the lot code number
for the new sensor cap.
Refer to the documentation supplied with the Cap Replacement Kit (007460) for the LDO sensor.
Clean the sensor before maintenance.

11.6 Replacement parts

Personal injury hazard. Use of non-approved parts may cause personal injury, damage to the
instrument or equipment malfunction. The replacement parts in this section are approved by the
manufacturer.
