Ensure that you have read the operating instructions fully and understand them prior to using the chain
block:
• The chain block should be visually inspected for damage or faults prior to use.
• Never exceed the rated capacity of the chain block.
• Do not use the load chain as e sling, this will damage the load chain.
• Do not use more than one chain block to lift or move a load unless a full risk assessment has been carried out by a competent persion.
• Do not use the chain block if the chain is twisted ,kinked or damaged in any way.
• Do not operate the chain block unless the load is centered between the top and bottom hooks.
• Never use the chain block if either hook is stretched, deformed, damaged or has a broken or missing safety catch.
• Only qualified personnel should operate chain blocks.
• Do not use the chain block to lift or lower people or to lift or lower loads over people.
• Never over extend the load chain.
Maintenance
1.
After each use, clean any dirt or water off the unit and lubricate the load chain and swivel hook.
2.
Maintcnance and inspection should only be carried out by qualified personnel in accordance with the Machinery Directive 2006/42/
EC.
3.
After repairs or maintenance, the chain block should be inspected and tested to ensure that it is operating correctly.
4.
If the chain block is used outdoors or in adverse conditions, additional care should be taken regarding maintenance.
Inspection
1.
The chain block should be inspected prior to use for any damage or faults. Also listen for unusual sounds, which may indicate problems
with the chain block.
2.
Brakes require more than audio-visual inspection.Check frequently by operating the chain block with and without a load, stopping at
various positions to test that the load is being held correctly. If the load moves or slips, the chain block should be taken out of service
and repaired.
Checks on load chain
Inspect the load chain over its whole length to detect any deformed or otherwise damaged links. Make a check measurement of suspect
links. Measure the worn areas Also, every 300 mm (normally), make check measurements of the internal length of 5 links (pitch dimension
5xP – according to Table).
