Storing rechargeable batteries
Note: Rechargeable batteries last the long-
est when they are well cared for and, above
all, stored at the correct temperatures. How-
ever, with increasing age, the capacity
decreases even when stored correctly. A
significantly reduced operating time despite
a full battery indicates that it has been used
up.
• Leaving the battery in an empty state for a long
time may damage it and greatly reduce its capac-
ity.
• Charge batteries before storage to avoid damage
and deep discharges. The optimum charge level
before storage is around 70%.
• If stored for a very long time, check the charge
level regularly; recharge the battery if necessary.
• Store batteries in dry and well-ventilated rooms.
• Protect batteries from moisture and water.
• If possible, store batteries in the following loca-
tions:
– in rooms with smoke detectors;
– not near flammable or combustible objects;
– not near sources of heat;
• The optimum storage temperature is 10–20 °C.
• Batteries must not be stored below 0 °C or above
40 °C as extreme temperatures may cause the
batteries to become damaged.
• Do not expose batteries to direct sunlight.
• Disconnect batteries from the device before stor-
age.
• Do not leave batteries permanently connected to
the charger.
