OPERATION
Switching on and off (Fig. 3)
• To switch on the tool set the ON/OFF switch to the ON position.
• To stop the tool, set the ON/OFF switch to the OFF position.
• Wait a few seconds for the engine to reach its rated speed before processing materials.
Proper use
• Apply moderate and constant pressure on the workpiece. If you use excessive pressure, the motor will overheat and the grinding wheel will wear out faster.
• Locate the bevel angle in the piece to hone and try to keep its shape.
• Keep a tray with water handy and regularly immerse the workpiece in it to prevent overheating.
Honing
In most cases, the blade of the workpiece must be at a 20° angle with regards to the grinding wheel.
Scissors: When possible, unscrew the scissors to make the honing job easy and safe. Hone only the outside, starting from the blade's bottom part and working
your way to the tip.
Knives: Most knives can be honed in both faces. Start honing the blade's bottom part and work your way towards the tip.
Screwdrivers: A perfectly honed screwdriver needs to be a perfect rectangle, totally flat and perpendicular to the screwdriver blade. Both sides and faces must
be flat and perpendicular to each other. To hone a damaged screwdriver, keep each face of the screwdriver against the grinding wheel, then place the tip against
the wheel to get it flat.
MAINTENANCE
Grinding wheels replacement (Fig. 4, 5)
• Ensure that the new wheels are not damaged or worn in any way.
• Remove the wheel guard by loosening and removing its three screws (A).
• Using a tool, hold the wheel firmly to prevent it from moving (B) and loosen the axis nut. Caution: Loosen the right-hand grinding wheel nut by turning it
counterclockwise and loosen the left-hand grinding wheel nut (C) by turning it clockwise.
• Remove the outer flange (D) and the wheel to be replaced (E).
• To mount the new grinding wheel correctly, set it onto the axis (F) and repeat the described steps in a reverse manner.
