6.3. ATTACHING TO A USER
•
The Globestock WINCH can only be used in conjunction with a full-body harness which conforms EN 361.
•
It is recommended that a work positioning harness is worn by the user when being raised or lowered by the
Globestock WINCH.
•
The Globestock WINCH must only be connected to the D-ring on the front or back of the full-body harness.
•
Connect the Globestock WINCH's karabiner directly to the fall arrest attachment point of the full-body harness.
Ensure the karabiner gate is closed and locked.
Do not rely on feel or sound to verify proper karabiner engagement. Always visually check

for proper engagement.
6.4. RAISING / LOWERING PERSONNEL
•
Two people are required to safely operate the Globestock WINCH. One person to operate the winch as the other
is raised or lowered.
•
The operator of the Globestock WINCH must maintain a clear line of communication with the person being
raised.
•
Ensure there are no obstructions in the path of the person being raised or lowered.
A clearly understood, predetermined action plan must be in place and implemented in the

event of an emergency.
6.5. MAINTENANCE, STORAGE &
TRANSPORTATION
•
This equipment must be stored in a manner as to preclude damage from environmental factors such as heat,
light, excessive moisture, oil, chemicals and their vapours, or other degrading elements.
•
The exterior of the Globestock WINCH may be wiped clean using warm water and a mild detergent. Allow the
Globestock WINCH to dry thoroughly before use.
•
A small amount of light oil can be applied to the winch line to maintain it. Apply the oil to a cloth, hold it around
the winch line and allow the winch line to pass through the cloth.
•
Protect the Globestock WINCH from damage during transportation. Globestock Safety recommend
transporting and storing the WINCH in a robust, water resistant holdall like the Globestock Holdall (Part No.
GSEH/ALL).
