OPERATION
WARNING:
Before performing any adjustment, make sure the
tool is unplugged from the power supply and the
switch is in the OFF position. Failure to heed this
warning could result in serious personal injury.
POSITIVE 0° BEVEL STOP
See Figures 20 - 21, page 19.
The saw has a positive 0° bevel stop that has been factory
adjusted to assure 0° angle of the saw blade when making 90°
cuts. However, misalignment can occur during shipping.
To check positive 0° bevel stop:
 Unplug the saw.
 Place the saw in an upside down position on a
workbench.
NOTE: This position is for making adjustments only. Never
operate the saw in this position.
MAINTENANCE
WARNING:
When servicing use only identical RIDGID
ment parts. Use of any other parts may create a
hazard or cause product damage.
WARNING:
Always wear eye protection with side shields
marked to comply with ANSI Z87.1. Failure to do
so could result in objects being thrown into your
eyes, resulting in possible serious injury.
GENERAL MAINTENANCE
Avoid using solvents when cleaning plastic parts. Most
plastics are susceptible to damage from various types of
commercial solvents and may be damaged by their use. Use
clean cloths to remove dirt, dust, oil, grease, etc.
WARNING:
Do not at any time let brake fluids, gasoline,
petroleum-based products, penetrating oils, etc.,
come in contact with plastic parts. Chemicals can
damage, weaken or destroy plastic which may
result in serious personal injury.
 Move the lower blade guard out of the way so that the
saw blade is exposed.
 Check the squareness of the saw blade to the base of
the saw using a combination square.
To adjust positive 0° bevel stop:
 Unplug the saw.
 Pull bevel adjustment lever upward to release.
 Turn Torx T-8 adjustment screw with Torx T-8 wrench (not
provided) and adjust base until it is square with the saw
blade.
 Securely lock the bevel adjustment lever.
WARNING:
Attempting a bevel cut without having the bevel
adjustment lever securely locked in place can
result in serious injury.
LUBRICATION
All of the bearings in this product are lubricated with a
replace-
®
sufficient amount of high grade lubricant for the life of the
unit under normal operating conditions. Therefore, no further
lubrication is required.
POWER SUPPLY CORD REPLACEMENT
If replacement of the power supply cord is necessary, this
must be done by an authorized service center in order to
avoid a safety hazard.
ADJUSTING THE LOCKING POSITION OF THE
DEPTH ADJUSTMENT LEVER
See Figure 22, page 19.
Over time, the amount of travel on the depth adjustment
lever may increase to a point where the lever no longer
locks securely.
To adjust:
 Unplug the saw.
 Loosen the Torx T-8 locking screw on the bottom of the
saw using a Torx T-8 wrench (not provided).
 Move the depth adjustment lever so that it aligns with the
power cord, then hold in position.
 Using the blade wrench provided, rotate the lever
adjustment screw clockwise just until it touches the
internal casting. Do not overtighten.
 Retighten the Torx T-8 adjustment screw to secure new
lever position.
