3. LIGHTNING INSTRUCTIONS
The stove can be used as normal once the initial lighting procedure has been completed.
The stove is only suitable for burning wood. See "Fuel" for further information.
-
Shake the ash grate so that the excess ash falls into the ash tray and empty the
ash tray (see figure C).
-
Open the ash grate and the air valve (see figure C).
-
Open the bypass valve by turning the handle on the right-hand side at the rear of the
stove downwards.
-
Place two fire lighters in the middle of the grate.
-
Build a pyramid around the fire lighters using 8 to 10 pieces of kindling which are
approximately 2 cm thick and 25 cm long.
-
Light the firelighters.
-
Leave the door slightly open; the grate will then also remain slightly open.
-
Close the door once the fire is well lit and the condensation has been removed from
the window. The ash grate will close automatically.
-
Once the stove has become warm, the bypass valve can be closed by moving the
handle at the back of the stove on the right-hand side upwards.
-
The ash pan must always be closed when operating the stove.
Adding wood
Wood may be added to the stove once the kindling has been burnt and has formed a glo-
wing mass.
-
Open the bypass valve and then the door.
-
Fill the stove with 2-4 blocks of wood which weigh no more than 1 kg each.
-
Close the door and then the bypass valve.
-
If, after some time, the room becomes too warm, you can close the air valve further
so that the stove will burn more slowly.
-
Before adding more wood to the stove, wait until there are no longer any flames and
only a glowing mass remains.
Burning a fire during the period of transition
During the period of transition (when the outdoor temperature is higher), a higher out-
door temperature may affect the pull of the chimney, which in turn will cause smoke to
escape from the stove. This can be prevented by burning the stove with a larger flame. A
larger flame with the same heat production can be achieved by filling the stove more
often with a smaller quantity of wood and by burning the wood whilst the air valve is
opened further. The fire should then also be stoked more often, particularly if it consists
of a large quantity of glowing ash.
