To measure the amplitude and polarity of the d.c. component, you must
first determine the 0-Volt reference. To do this, toggle the lever (13) on
position 0 and bring the trace on the horizontal axis.
a) Measurement of the a.c. component alone: toggle the lever (13) on "a.c."
(~). The voltage value is obtained by multiplying the number of divisions
between 2 peaks by the range used on selector (9).
b) Measurement of the d.c. component: toggle the lever (13) on "d.c." (
The d.c. voltage value is obtained by multiplying the number of divisions
between the horizontal axis of the graticule and the median axis of the a.c.
component by the range used on selector (9) (diagram 5).
a) (y - x) = a.c. component
(y - x) X range = V peak to peak
b) (x + y) = d.c. component
(x + y) X range = d.c. voltage
4.2 Signal
stabilisation
synchronisation
Feed a periodic signal into the input YA (7) or YB (8).
Select the desired channel YA (15) or YB (16).
Set the selector (19) so that 2-3 alternations are displayed on
screen.
Use the knob (22) to shift the trace to that the trace beginning is
visible.
Select the NORM position (27).
Rotate the THRESHOLD knob (29) and ensure that this modifies
the level of the trace starting point.
This starting point moves on a vertical axis between the minimum
and maximum signal values.
