Note that print-head type cartridges dry out very quickly when empty. For the best possible print quality, you should refill
immediately upon the cartridge running out of ink, if not a bit before.
1) Drill
1
/
" holes at the locations specified. Drill at a downwards angle towards the print-head. Only barely penetrate the
16
plastic wall.
2) Inject the appropriate color ink into each compartment. Insert the needle at a downwards diagonal angle as far as it
will go. Inject very slowly and watch the fill hole so that you can stop filling once ink appears around the needle. Once
ink begins to appear around the needle, the cartridge is full.
3) Clean the syringe and needle and proceed to the next color.
4) Wipe off any spilled ink with a damp paper towel and clean the area around the fill holes. Seal the fill holes with an
adequate piece of electrical tape or equivalent.
5) Gently clean the print-head with a damp paper towel and very gently dry with a clean paper towel.
6) Press a dry folded paper towel over the print-head for 1 second. For black: an even patch of black should appear. For
color: three distinct color patches should be visible of approximately equal size. If this works correctly, the cartridge is
ready. If not, try leaving the cartridge sitting for about an hour to let the ink saturate the entire sponge and then try
again.
After refilling, the ink level for that cartridge will still remain "empty". An "empty cartridge" error message may appear and
a blinking amber light will appear on the printer. To resume printing in this case, follow the onscreen instructions, or press
and hold the "stop/reset" button for 5 seconds. This should allow the ink level monitor to be bypassed to resume printing,
though it will not reset the ink level to full.
