3. DSP PRESET PARAMETERS AND REMOTE CONTROL

The use of a line array has a number of advantages in different contexts, in particular:
Homogeneous SPL along the front line of the speakers, an effect that is particularly noticeable over medium
to long distances
directional acoustic behaviour, which allows the sound to be accurately focused on the audience, avoiding
unnecessary dispersion in areas where sound coverage is not required
The achievable optimization of the line array takes into account the behaviour of the system with respect to
frequency:
increasing the distance to the line array increases air attenuation. This has an effect especially on the high
frequencies
as the angle between the line array elements increases, the mid-frequency phase coupling decreases
as the number of line array modules increases, the low frequencies will add up in an acoustically consistent
manner
The line array acoustic configuration of the VIO L210 modules can be
optimized, thanks to the control functions managed by the DSP. The
interface for use is simple and user-friendly: it uses two rotary controls
of the "DSP Preset" section and refers to the explanatory label on the
side of the amplifier.
Position the rotary "SPEAKER COUPLING" and HIGH FREQUENCY
COMPENSATION according to the number of modules used in
the line array. These rotary controls act on the low frequencies
and must be set in the position:
A - 2 to 6 speakers
B - 7 to 8 speakers
C - 9 to 10 speakers
D - 11 to 12 speakers
E - 13 to 14 speakers
F - 15 speakers or more
G - to enhance the low frequencies (front fill or stand-alone
use)
• 1 - FLAT (there is no emphasis on any particular frequency band)
• 2 - front fill with audience at 0 to 5 m (16 feet) distance
• 3 - with audience at 6-20 m (17-66 feet) distance
• 4 - with audience at 21-30 m (67-98 feet) distance
• 5 - with audience at 31-40 m (99-131 feet) distance
• 6 - with audience at 41-50 m (132-164 feet) distance
• 7 - with audience at 51-60 m (165-197 feet) distance
• 8 - with audience at a distance from 61 m (198 feet)
