Watch out for foreign objects in or on the hedge which could damage the blades.
When is the best time to trim hedges?
− As a general rule, hedges which lose their leaves in the autumn, should be trimmed in
June and October.
− Hedges which do not lose their leaves, should be cut in April and August.
Before cutting, check the hedge for foreign objects e.g. wire fences.
10.3
Changing the blades (Fig. B, I & J)
Important! Risk of injury!
Wear gloves when changing the blade.
To remove the blade, press the release mechanism (Fig. B, 19) and take out the blade.
Once you have removed the grass shear blades (Fig. I, 2) (or the shrub shear blades: Fig.
I, 3), you will be able to see two pin mounts (Fig. I, 1) at the bottom of the product.
Then pick up the shrub shear blades (or grass shear blades): there will be two insert slots
at the two sides of the shrub shear blades (Fig. I, 4).
Press the blade release mechanism (Fig. I, 5).
Insert the bottom tab on the grass/shrub blade into the slot at the bottom of the shear
body.
Insert the two pin mounts into the slot of the shrub shear (Fig. J).
Finally, loosen the release mechanism (Fig. J). The blade change is finished.
11 MAINTENANCE, CLEANING AND STORAGE
Note: To ensure long and reliable service, carry out the following
maintenance regularly.
11.1
General maintenance
Check for obvious defects such as loose, dislodged or damaged blade, loose fixings and
worn or damaged components.
Check that covers and guards are undamaged and correctly fitted. Carry out necessary
maintenance or repairs before using.
There are no parts inside the equipment which require additional maintenance.
11.2
Blade maintenance
Always clean the cutting blades after operation and lubricate with oil.
During longer cutting jobs, we recommend periodically lubricating the cutting blade.
Visually check the condition of the cutting edges of the cutting blade.
Ensure that the blade is covered with the blade guard supplied when not in use.
Never apply any grease to the blades.
To ensure constant exact cutting it is also important to remove grass remnants and dirt
from between the upper and lower blade.
To achieve good results you should keep the blades sharp at all times. In particular we re-
commend that you immediately level off any jags or ridges caused by stones or the like.
