Troubleshooting
Problem
The compressor does not run.
The motor hums while running
slowly, or it doesn't run at all.

Possible Cause

There is a loss of power or
the motor is overheated.

There is no power to
the unit.

The circuit breaker has
tripped or a fuse has blown
at the main power source.

The thermal overload
protector is actuated.

The pressure switch is bad.

The compressor has reached
automatic shutoff pressure.

There is low voltage from

length of extension cord is
being used.

Solution
□
Check for proper use of extension
cord.
□
Check to be sure the unit is
plugged in.
□
Check the fuse/breaker.
□
Turn the air compressor OFF ( O ).
□
Unplug air compressor and wait
until compressor cools down.
□
Plug the air compressor into an
approved outlet.
□
Turn the air compressor ON ( I ).
□
Bring the compressor to a
service center.
□
Release the air from the tank
until the compressor restarts
automatically.
□
Call an electrician.
□
Check for proper gauge wire and
cord length.
□
Bring the compressor to a
