Minimum cross section of the chimney shall be 180 mm (~250 cm²) with the height of 5 to 6 m from
the bottom of the firebox. The chimney channel shall be tight, with even cross section over the
entire length and shall protrude 0.5 m above the roof ridge.
Prior to proceeding with the fireplace insert installation, consult a chimney sweeper, measure the
draught within the chimney and inspect the chimney to establish whether it is possible to use the
existing chimney for the fireplace connection.
Fireplace installation
The fireplace insert is designed for encasing in masonry enclosure.
The fireplace insert shall be installed only by qualified persons or companies specialised for such
works. When installing the fireplace, make sure that all applicable regulations and standards, as
well as these instructions regarding the size of the heated space, flue pipes, chimney, fresh air
supply to support combustion, air circulation around the fireplace and recirculation from the heated
space and fire protection are fully complied with.
When coating the fireplace insert with elements made of stone, ceramics or similar (non-
combustible) materials, make sure that:
- air circulation is ensured between fireplace insert and the masonry enclosure wall. To
achieve this, minimum distance of 5 cm shall be provided between the fireplace insert and
the enclosure;
- Air supply and exhaust are provided below the insert and above the insert respectively,
through grids of a total area of 1000 cm2. (e.g. 3 grids 25 x 15 cm);
- Minimum clearance of 120 cm between the front side of the firebox and combustible
materials is provided.
- Upon the completion of the installation works a fireplace and chimney use certificate,
including flue and chimney inspection report/test certificates shall be obtained from a
chimney sweeper.
