HPRACE VARIATOR
Yasuni has invented, created and patented a truly automatic transmission system
and not just a variator. With the HPRACE variator, the rider is totally in control:
throttle engagement is transferred directly to the wheel and therefore the best engine
performance is obtained.
INSTALLING THE VARIATOR
1. Before installing the variator, remove the cover of the automatic transmission system.
2. Once the cover has been removed, reduce the pressure on the rear pulley so that the belt is free of
tension.
3. Next, loosen the crankshaft nut.
4. Now, disassemble the fixed pulley.
5. Next, remove the installed variator. Once it has been removed, clean all grease, oil and dust residue from
the primary transmission, the crankshaft journal and the bolt.
6. Check that the kit is complete and that no weights are missing before installing. If the kit includes a bolt,
it must replace the original one.
7. Install the bell and place the bolt on top of the bushing.
8. Place the variator on top of the crankshaft journal. Leave the possible washers that come with the
original variator where they are. YASUNI recommends always replacing the belt by a new one when
changing the variator.
9. Before installing the fixed pulley, check that the belt is free of tension. Position the fixed pulley and the
nut while leaving the possible washers that come with the original variator where they are.
10. Before tightening the nut, check that the belt is still free from tension.
11. Before tightening the nut, install the tool to block the fixed pulley.
12. Adjust the torque wrench to the torque pressure recommended by the engine manufacturer.
13. Tighten the nut using the torque wrench while keeping the fixed pulley in place using the special tool.
14. Re-install the cover that is used to protect the automatic transmission system. The variator is ready
for use.
RECOMMENDATIONS
1. To prevent faults, we recommend always installing the variator at an authorised workshop to guarantee
the correct installation of the variator. We cannot be held liable for possible faults due to an incorrect
installation.
2. Always use the original rear pulley, spring and clutch. YASUNI always performs its checks and tuning
working with the original transmission system and it guarantees performance as long as nothing in the
transmission is changed. On the other hand, the softer an automatic transmission system operates, the
greater durability we will achieve regarding its components since they will be put under less stress. The
rear pulley must be completely disassembled, greased following the manufacturer's recommendations
and the lip seals must be replaced if they are in bad condition to ensure the correct operation of the
variator.
3. The belt needs to be checked every 10,000 km. It must be checked to see if its quality is good, that
it does not have damaged areas and that wear is not greater than 15% of what is recommended by the
manufacturer. If you have any doubts, replace it with a NEW one when you install the variator. The quality
of the transmission belt is of fundamental importance for the length of its service life and that of the
variator; it must not be too rigid or too soft. The quality of the mix determines the appropriate holding in
the pulleys both cold and hot; its bad quality, however, will mean a considerable power and performance
loss.
4. For an optimum KIT response, the compression ratio of the engine must be between the values
recommended by the manufacturer.
5. The durability of the weights. We recommend checking the condition of the weights every 10,000 km.
Only use original YASUNI sliding weights and spare parts.
6. Check the centre bushing during every overhaul. If the play between the bolt and the centre bushing is
greater than 0.2 mm, the bushing must be replaced to guarantee the perfect operation of the variator. The
centre bushing can be requested as a spare part. It is a consumable.
THE USE OF THE SUPPLIED WASHER IS MANDATORY FOR THE CORRECT OPERATION
OF THE SPEED VARIATOR. IF THIS WASHER IS NOT USED, THE DRIVE WILL NOT WORK
PROPERLY AND MAY FAIL.
