Troubleshooting
Problem
The burner will not light using
the igniter (if included).
The burner will not light with the
match.
There is sudden drop in gas flow
or reduced flame height.
Irregular flame pattern – the
flame does not run the full length
of the burner.
The flame is yellow or orange.
The flame goes out.
There is a flare-up.
The grease fire is persistent.
There is flashback fire in the
burner tube(s).
Inside of lid is peeling (like paint
peeling).
Possible Cause
The LP gas tank is low or empty.
There is an LP gas leak.
The wires or electrode are covered with
cooking residue.
Electrode and burners are wet.
Electrode is cracked or broken - sparks at
crack.
The wire is loose or disconnected.
The wire is shorting (sparking) between igniter
and electrode.
There is a bad igniter.
There is not gas flow.
The LP gas tank is low or empty.
There is an LP gas leak.
Coupling nut and regulator are not fully
connected.
The gas flow is obstructed.
Spider webs or insects nest are in the venturi. Clean the burner/venturi tube.
Burner ports are clogged or blocked.
The gas is out.
The burner ports are clogged or blocked.
The new burner may have the residual
manufacturing oils.
There are spider webs or insect nest in burner/
venturi tube.
There are food residue, grease, etc. on the
burner.
There is a poor alignment of valve to the
burner/venturi tube.
There are high or gusting winds.
The LP gas is low.
Overflow valve is tripped.
There is grease buildup.
There is excess fat in meat.
The cooking temperature is excessive.
There is grease trapped by the food buildup
around the burner system.
The burner and/or burner tubes are blocked
Baked on grease buildup has turned to carbon
and is flaking off.
Replace the LP gas tank.
1. Turn the LP gas tank valve to " OFF".
2. Wait 5 minutes for the gas to clear.
3. Follow "Checking for Leaks" section.
Clean the wire and/or electrode with the rubbing alcohol.
Wipe dry with a cloth.
Replacement part(s) may be needed - contact Customer
Care at 1.800.694.0013.
Reconnect wire or replacement part(s) may be needed -
contact Customer Care at 1.800.694.0013.

Check if the LP gas tank is empty
A. If empty, replace the tank.
B. If the LP gas tank is not empty, refer to "Sudden drop
in gas flow or reduced flame height" below.
Replace the LP gas tank.
1. Turn the LP gas tank valve to " OFF".
2. Wait 5 minutes for the gas to clear.
3. Follow "Checking for Leaks" section.
Turn the coupling nut about one-half to three-quarters
additional turn until you reach a solid stop. Tighten by
hand only – do NOT use tools.
Clear the burner/venturi tube.
Clean the burner ports.
Replace the LP gas tank.
Clean the burner ports.
Operate the grill for 15 minutes on (HIGH) with the lid
closed.
Clean the burner/venturi tube.
Clean the burner.
Ensure the burner/venturi tube is properly engaged with
the valve.
Do not use the grill in high winds.
Replace the LP gas tank.
Refer to "Sudden drop in gas flow or reduced flame
height," above.
Remove and clean all grill parts per "Cleaning and Care"
section.
Trim the fat from the meat before grilling.
Adjust (lower) the cooking temperature.
1. Turn the control knob to " OFF".
2. Leave the lid in closed position and let the fire burn out.
3. After the grill cools, remove and clean all grill parts per
"Cleaning and Care" section
Clean the burner and/or burner/venturi tube.
Clean all grill parts per "Cleaning and Care" section.
