Batteries that need to be labelled by law are provided with one of the illustrations below, being a
crossed-out wheeled bin and the chemical symbol for the classification of pollutants-containing
heavy metals. The chemical symbol (Cd, Hg or Pb) will be shown under the illustration.
The following text can be found on the pollutants-containing batteries:
Pb: Battery contains lead
Cd: Battery contains cadmium
Hg: Battery contains mercury
