To Retighten a Loose Chuck
The chuck may become loose on the spindle and develop a wobble. The chuck screw may
also become loose, causing the chuck jaws to bind and prevent them from closing.
To tighten a loose chuck or chuck screw:
a. Lock the variable-speed trigger switch by placing the direction-of-rotation selector in the
center position.
b. Open the chuck jaws.
c. Insert a hex key (not included) into the chuck and tighten the chuck jaws securely. Tap the
hex key sharply with a mallet (not included) in a clockwise direction. This will tighten the
chuck on the spindle.
d. Open the chuck jaws and remove the hex key.
e. Use a Philips screwdriver (not included) to turn the chuck screw counterclockwise to tighten
it.
Cleaning

1. Battery pack is depleted.
2. Tool is over-loaded.
3. Battery pack is over-
temperature.
4. Battery pack is not installed
properly.
5. Burned out switch.
1. Accessory being used is
bent or damaged.
2. Accessory being used is not
secure in chuck.
3. Loose chuck.
Remedy
1. Charge the battery.
2. Release the variable-speed
trigger switch and try again.
3. Turn off the tool and cool the
battery pack under air flow.
4. Confirm battery is locked and
secured to the tool.
5. Have the switch replaced by
an Authorized SKIL Service
Center or Service Station.
1. Discard and replace with new
accessory.
