Installation instructions:
Remove the covering from the boot. Remove the rear bumper and unscrew the bumper holders

(not required) on the left and right. The screws X will be reused later.
Cut out the bumper support in the centre area and in the area of the power outlet along the
markings.
Cut out the shaded area from the bumper cover using the marking Z (see Diagram 1).

Move the seals 3 on the left and right onto the side parts. Place towing hitch basic section 1 in
the bumper and at "a" hand-tighten using the screws X (see Point 1).
3.)
(see diagram II) Remove the linen adhesive strip Y from the bottom of the vehicle. The
shackles 4 at "b" are to be secured using clip 5 and screw 6. The shackles 4 are to be
assembled only on the right side of vehicles with a front-wheel drive, there is already a nut
present on the left side.
4.)
Put the socket connection cable of the electrical assembly in place (see installation instructions
for electrical accessory set).
(see Diagram III) Mount the towing hitch basic section 1 on the vehicle with the pre-assembled

bumper. To do this move the side parts of the towing hitch basic section 1 into the vehicle´s
longitudinal beams and align the bumper cover with the contour of the wheel housing. Insert the
screws 7 with the washers 8 at "c" and "d" both on the left and right and tighten the towing hitch
basic section 1.
At "c" and "d" the starting torque is 55 Nm + 5 Nm. At "c" and "d" check the starting torque after
15 minutes at the earliest and correct if necessary.
Remove the plugs at "a" from the vehicle body via the boot. Adjust the bumper and tighten the

screws X. The starting torque at "a" is 20 Nm + 2 Nm. Insert the plugs again.
Place the covering in the boot and secure. Match the bumper cover to the vehicle contour and

mount. Attach the information sign "Removable ball bar" and the support load sign so that they
can be seen inside the boot.
Mount the electrical assembly fully (see installation instructions for electrical accessory set).

(see drawing IV) Take off the detachable ball rod and insert the plug 9 into the mounting tube.
9.)
Stow the detachable ball rod together with the gloves 12 in the bag 10.
On Saloon models, tie the bag 10 with the detachable ball rod tight in the spare wheel using the
strap 11.
On the Avant place the detachable ball rod into the car tool kit stowage point and attach.
