an electrical outlet and you are ready to use your new Top Browning Roaster
Oven.
Note: During the first use of the roaster oven, some smoke and odor may be
present. This smoke and odor should not be present after this first initial

opening the lid after cooking.
Hints for Using the Top Browning Roaster Oven
Hints for Using the Top Browning Roaster
1. If cooking large quantities of soups or stews, the removable roasting pan may be
used as the cooking pan in the roaster base. It may also be used as a large
roasting pan in the roaster base.
2. For best results do not preheat the roaster. Doing so could lead to shortening the
life of the roaster oven or cause the coating to discolor.
3. Before baking or roasting in the roaster oven, make sure that the pan or dish that
you will be placing in the removable roasting pan fits.
4. Do not use roasting bags.
5. Make sure the lid is seated firmly into the hinge. Do not insert anything other than
the lid hinge connector into the hinge as the hinge contains live electrical parts.
6. Do not use if the lid or the hinge is damaged, or any electrical parts (wiring,
connectors, etc.) are exposed.
7. Do not remove or lift the lid of the roaster oven unless necessary. By removing or
lifting the lid heat escapes and affects the temperature of the roaster oven and will
not allow browning to occur properly.
The "Top Browner" Feature
The "Top Browner" feature can be used as necessary, by simply pressing the "Top
Browner" switch. It is recommended to use the "Top Browner" feature during the last
30 to 40 minutes of roasting. However, when roasting smaller items, the "Top
Browner" function may be used throughout the entire duration of the roasting. When
using this feature, ensure that the food item does not touch the heating element on
the inside of the lid.
Helpful Guidelines for Roasting a Turkey
1. Do not open or lift the lid of the roaster oven during cooking as this will prevent the
turkey from browning properly.
2. It is not recommended to cook a turkey larger than 18lbs in this roaster oven when
using the "Top Browning" feature.
3. To prevent the turkey from burning, make sure that it does not touch the browning
element in the lid.

3. Place the removable roasting pan in
the base of the roaster oven. Pour
approximately 1L of water into the
roasting pan. During the cooking
cycle it is important to check that
there is some water in the roasting
pan so that the food does not dry
up.
4. Then place the removable roasting
rack in the roasting pan. Place food
into another pan or dish, and then
place it on the removable roasting
rack. Instead of using another pan
or dish, the food can be placed
directly on the removable roasting
rack. It is important to always use
another pan or dish, or to put the
food on the roasting rack so that the
food does not sit directly in the
water while roasting.
Note
: Do not use the removable
roasting pan as the baking pan for
cakes, breads or casseroles. A
separate pan must be used when
cooking these foods.
Before planning to bake or roast in the
unit with pans or dishes, be sure to
check for fit in the removable roasting
pan or on removable roasting rack. The
following are pan sizes which should fit:
•
One 9 X 13 inch baking pan
•
One 10 X 14 inch roasting pan
•
Two 9 X 5 inch loaf pans
•
Two 8 X 4 inch loaf pans
•
One tube or bundt pan
Important
: Do not use roasting bags.
Important Note
: The removable
roasting pan and roasting rack
should always be in the base when
roasting, cooking, and baking.
5. Make sure that the unit is in the
"OFF" position; then plug cord into
120 volt outlet.
6. Turn temperature control to desired
temperature setting, and cook food
for the required amount of time.
7. For roasting smaller foods, the top
browner may be turned on for the
duration of the roasting but for
larger items that are in close
proximity to the element, the top
browner should only be turned on
for the last 30 to 40 minutes of
roasting.
Important:
Always keep the lid closed
while the roaster oven is in use; avoid
moving the roaster oven while it is in
operation and hot.
Not
e: Lifting the lid often during the
cooking cycle will reduce the interior
heat and prolong the cooking cycle. Do
not open lid frequently.
8. When cooking is complete, turn the
temperature control to "OFF" and
unplug the unit from the wall outlet.
9. Using oven mitts or hot pads, lift lid
and remove roasting rack with food
and serve. Use wood or plastic
utensils to handle the food in the
pan or dishes.
Warning
: Never open the lid
towards your face or body. Escaping
steam may cause burns. Always lift
the lid partially to allow steam to
escape before fully lifting the lid and
avoid placing your hand over the
steam vents.
Caution
: Use oven mitts or hot pads
to remove any pans, the removable
roasting pan, the roasting rack or
cooked food from the base when
heated. Cooked items will be hot and
burns could occur.
Caution
: Allow base to cool before
moving or cleaning.
