SENTRONIC valves can be used for applications where pressure and vacuum regulation is required. For instance, for testing the
strength of piping, for testing car brake amplifiers, and even for testing the quality of contact lenses.
There are two versions specially designed for vacuum applications.
• The "cut-off" version
When the level of vacuum, expressed in terms of a setpoint, is reached, the valve closes the circuit and no more air is consumed.
When the set point at 0V, it breaks the vacuum (see below).
• The "by-pass" version
Here the vacuum pump operates permanently and the valve adjusts the vacuum in the circuit by varying the amount of air that is
allowed to bleed in (see overleaf).
■ "CUT-OFF" VERSION (3 ports)
The cut-off version vacuum SENTRONIC valve is connected between the vacuum pump and the system to be regulated as indicated
in the following diagram:
VACUUM
PUMP
Atmosphere
or pressure
(5 bar max.)
Operation: As long as the level of vacuum is not reached, the Sentronic valve
allows free flow between the pump and the load system. When the setpoint
is reached, the valve closes the circuit and no more air is consumed.
In the event of leakage of the load system, the valve provides regulation by
reconnecting the load to the vacuum pump.
When the set point at 0V, it breaks the vacuum by connecting the volume to
the atmosphere
To optimise the use of a Sentronic valve in this type of application, it is
necessary to:
- Provide a filter (e.g. a silencer) on Port 1 to prevent the ingress of foreign
material.
- Calculate the output of the pump, as a function of the consumption of air
in the system and the flow characteristics of the Sentronic valve to ensure
that the vacuum can operate unchoked.
- To accelerate vacuum breaking, pressure can be applied to Port 1 (5 bar
max.).
Nota : You can regulate a pressure -1 bar to +5 bar, to apply in port 1 a
pressure at 6 bar. This version use a specific sensor, consult us.
