7.2 Regular checks
For safe operation, the following checks have to be performed regularly:
Every
Oil level check: Check the oil level and oil colour before starting the device. Check the
pump for leaks. If necessary, change the oil or take the pump out of operation. If there
40 hours or
is water in the device, change the oil and check the process if necessary. Clean oil is
1x per week:
light and clear..
Notice: If the pump is soiled, or if there is the suspicion that non-approved greases or oils
have gotten into the vacuum pump, then the device needs to be taken out of operation,
treated with special cleaner and the oil replaced.
Monthly:
Check air intake area, discharge air duct and tank for soiling.
Notice: Only cleansers with the approval of the BAM Data sheet M034-1 are permitted
for the cleaning. Otherwise the operating licence for the device becomes void.
Annually:
Replacement of oil separators and filter inserts in the downstream separator. Before
exchanging the oil separators, moisten the seal with 1-2 drops of the pump oil.
Replacement of the oil filter.
Removal of soiling and deposits on all surfaces that influence the operating temperature
of the device. In particular on the cooler, on cooling surfaces, on the tank (outside and
possibly inside) and the fan.
Check the float valve (if present) for ease of movement. If necessary, suction clean the
chamber of the float valve.
Note:
Refilling with oil should normally not be necessary. Loss of oil is often caused by moisture
in the pumped intake air.
The pump may only be operated with the FOMBLIN YL VAC 25/6 oil approved by Gebr.
Becker. Otherwise there is a risk of explosion!!!
7.3 Safety during maintenance
Maintenance and cleaning may be carried out only:
by personnel trained in handling oxygen
with cleaning products that have been approved by the German Federal Institute for Materials Testing
(BAM) (see List of non-metallic materials - Data sheet M 034-1 "Oxygen" (BGI 617))
once the device has cooled down for 2-3 minutes.
There is a risk of fire or explosion during restarting if there is a malfunction!
Environmental protection as mandated by waste disposal laws and water protection laws obligate all com-
mercial enterprises to protect their employees and, in broader terms, humans and the environment from
harmful effects when handling hazardous materials.
For the protection of our employees that are assigned the handling (goods receiving) and the repair of the
vacuum pump, this is of utmost importance.
Please make sure that the vacuum pump, in accordance with the intended use, does not
come into contact with poisonous, explosive, microbiological, radioactive or other materials
that are hazardous to health.
Ignoring these rules leads to liability on the part of the operator and recourse claims from Gebr. Becker. We
also reserve the right to send back such pumps unrepaired.
