REPLACING THE BATTERIES
See Figures 28 - 31.
NOTE: Only use RYOBI Electric Riding Lawn Mower 80 volt
and 40 volt lithium batteries.
This mower can operate on up to three 80 volt battery packs.
There are four additional 40 volt battery ports that can help
extend the run time of the zero turn mower. The 80 volt bat-
teries are used first and the system automatically balances
the load between them during discharge. Any 40 volt batteries
inserted will extend the run time by adding additional energy
as the 80V batteries start to reach a lower state of charge.
NOTE: Used lithium batteries should always be recycled.
Always abide by the safety warnings provided with the bat-
tery packs. Dispose of old batteries according to local and
state regulations.
Park the mower on a level surface and set the parking
brake. Place the joystick in the locked, neutral position,
stop the motor, and remove the start key.
Adjust the seat all the way forward.
When removing/replacing an 80 volt battery pack:
Press the center edge on the battery compartment cover
to release the latch. The cover will raise to gain access
to the compartment below.
Disconnect the battery pack's quick-connect plug by
squeezing the tabs, releasing it from the battery pack,
and moving it aside. This plug connects/disconnects the
batteries from the mower.
Release the battery latch that secures the battery pack
by turning it counterclockwise.
Raise the battery pack from the battery port.
Replace the battery pack or packs as needed by lowering
it into the battery port.
Secure the battery pack by turning the battery latch
clockwise.
Reinstall the battery pack's quick-connect plug.
Repeat the steps for additional battery packs if necessary.
Lower the lid to the battery compartment and press on
the center edge to engage the lock.
NOTE: Make sure the battery compartment cover is se-
curely locked before readjusting the seat. Check to be
sure the safety interlock cable is still connected.
Readjust the seat to a comfortable position before driv-
ing the mower.
When removing/replacing a 40 volt battery pack:
There are four additional 40 volt battery ports that can help
extend the run time of the zero turn lawnmower. However,
these additional batteries are not required to operate the
zero turn mower.
NOTE: The zero turn mower will not operate on only 40 volt
batteries. The unit must have at least one operable 80 volt
battery to run the drive and blade motors.
