Once the pairing process is com-
plete, you must configure the

information on your meter. Also,
you must record the latest meter
reading (as an offset) in order to
be able to display a total meter
reading in the future. You will find
this setting in the interface device
settings. To access this, open the
Homematic IP app, tap on
"More..." and select the device in
the device overview.
6.2 Installation
You can use either
• the supplied double-sided adhesive
strips or
• a screw (not included in the deliv-
ery)
to affix the HmIP-ESI in the chosen
position.
Make sure that the mounting lo-
cation does not affect the wireless
communication between the
HmIP-ESI and the access point.
6.2.1 Adhesive strip mounting
Make sure that the mounting sur-
face is smooth, solid, non-dis-
turbed, free of dust, grease and
solvents and not too cold to en-
sure long-term adherence.

To mount the HmIP-ESI using the ad-
hesive strips, proceed as follows:
• Affix the double-sided adhesive
strips to the rear side of the elec-
tronics unit (D).
Press the device rear side first onto the
chosen position.
• Put the cover (B) on, ensuring that
it latches fully into place.
6.2.2 Screw mounting
When selecting the installation
location, check for electrical wires
and power supply cables.
A round headed screw with a 3
mm diameter is to be used for
mounting.
To mount the HmIP-ESI using a screw,
proceed as follows:
• Draw a drill hole on the chosen
position using a pen.
• Screw the screw into the wall (use
a wall plug if necessary).
For wooden walls, you can pre-
drill the hole with a 1.5 mm drill to
make it easier to screw in the
screw.
The clearance between the bot-
tom of the screw head and the
mounting surface should be ap-
proximately 2 mm.
