MAINTENANCE

WARNING
When servicing, use only identical replacement
parts. Use of any other parts can create a haz-
ard or cause product damage.
WARNING
Always wear eye protection with side shields
marked to comply with ANSI Z87.1 as well as
head and hearing protection when operating
this equipment. Failure to do so could result in
objects being thrown into your eyes and other
possible serious injuries.
WARNING
To avoid serious personal injury, always remove
thebattery pack from the product when clean-
ing or performing any maintenance.

General Maintenance

Before each use, inspect the entire product for
damaged, missing, or loose parts such as screws,
nuts, bolts, caps, etc. Tighten securely all fasteners
and caps and do not operate this product until all
missing or damaged parts are replaced. Please call
1-877-396-3036 or contact an authorized service
center for assistance.
Avoid using solvents when cleaning plastic parts.
Most plastics are susceptible to damage from
various types of commercial solvents and may be
damaged by their use. Use clean cloths to remove
dirt, dust, oil, grease, etc.
WARNING
Do not at any time let brake fluids, gaso-
line, petroleum-based products, penetrat-
ing oils, etc., come in contact with plastic
parts. Chemicals can damage, weaken or
destroy plastic which could result in serious
personal injury.
Mounting the Tip Guard
See Figures 26 - 27.
NOTE: The Tip Guard is an optional attachment
provided that can be attached to the end of the
guide bar to prevent the chain in the area of the
bar nose from contacting the wood and keep
the chain away from abrasive surfaces, such as
the ground.
TIGHTEN 3/4
OF A TURN
 Stop the motor and disconnect the battery.
 Mount the tip guard on the bar nose.
 Fit the locking tab in the recessed slot in the
guide bar.
 Tighten the mounting screw with wrench until
snug.
 From the snug position, tighten the mounting
screw an additional 3/4 of a turn using a wrench.
Maintaining the Tip Guard
See Figures 26 - 27.
Make sure the chain has stopped before you
do any work on the saw.
Check the tightness of the mounting screw
before each use.
Use the following instructions to tighten the mount-
ing screw of the tip guard. These are specially
hardened screws. If you cannot install the screw
tightly, replace both the screw and the tip guard
before further operation.
