4. Technical characteristics
4.1 Materials used
The construction materials of the components have been selected with special attention, to ensure high relia-
bility and duration also in the more demanding applications, and to meet the ATEX requirements of the ATEX
2014/34/UE Directive, and pursuant to EN 60079-0 and EN 60079-1.
The parts making up the V2 - V4 - A2 - A4 - G - H series electric pumps are the motor casing, the nut ring and
bearing holder, the motor holder, the cable gland, the pump body, and the GG 25 cast iron impeller, the AISI
420 stainless steel motor shaft, the AISI 304 stainless steel bolts and screws, the ring nut cable gland in AISI
304 stainless steel, the nitrile rubber O-rings, the neoprene 50sh rubber cable grommet, the steel lifting ring.
The grinding parts of the G series is made of hardened steel.
All these assembled materials have undergone lab tests carried out on the assembled pump and have passed
the ATEX lab tests indicated in paragraph 1.
The series are fitted with radial bearings with two crowns of spheres, pre-lubricated, are long lasting, and must
be replaced in case of wear. Replacement must only be carried out by DRENO POMPE qualified personnel.
4.2 Electric motor and temperature sensors
The electric motors are of the asynchronous type, 2 or 4 poles, three-phase, with squirrel cage rotor. The
voltage is 400 V three-phase, the powers available are from 1.5 to 9.5 kW.
These motors are designed to deliver the maximum rated power, with variation up to 5% of the rated voltage.
All the stators are built with class F (155°C) insulation and IP 68 protection degree. They can be used with
liquid temperatures from 0 to 40 °C.
Safety micro-thermostats are fitted inside the single-phase and three-phase windings, to prevent the motor
to exceed the temperature limit value set at 130 °C.
The micro-thermostats are bimetallic circuit breakers fitted inside the windings. They are normally closed, and
open when the temperature of 130 °C is exceeded, stopping the power supply to the electric pump.
When these protections have cooled down (75 °C), the power supply to the electric pump is reinstated.
The electric motor is cooled by the same pumped liquid in which the pump is submerged.
A maximum of 15 regolarly spaced start-ups/hour are allowed
4.3 Electric cable
The pumps are all fitted with a 10 m long electric cable: H07RN8F for the standard version, and (N)SSHOU-J
for ATEX pumps. Pumps are supplied with the terminals free. See paragraph 5 for any further information and
applications.
A maximum of 15 regolarly spaced start-ups/hour are allowed
4.4 Mechanical seals
V2 - V4 - A2 - A4 - G - H series electric pumps are fitted with two mechanical seals. The first one is lubricated
in the oil well (motor side) in Carbon Ceramic, the second is in contact with the pumped liquid, is in Silicon
Carbide + Viton, highly wear resistant.
4.5 Impellers
The impellers fitted on V2 - V4 - A2 - A4 - G - H series pumps are made of G25 cast iron. All impellers are
subject to a balancing process that ensures perfect operation in terms of minimisation of noise and vibrations,
and work efficiency.
