ARNING
Branch cutting involves a high kick-back risk.
Do not cut with the bar head, mind any tensioned branches.
In the event of lying trunks or vertical tensioned trunks, cut
first into the side under pressure then carry out the sectioning
cut in the side under traction to prevent the chain saw from
jamming or rebounding (fig. 20 and fig. 21).

MAINTENANCE AND REPAIRS

Only carry out the maintenance and repair works described
in this manual.
Any other works should be carried out by authorized IBEA
service shops.
Spare parts should be original IBEA parts. No modifications
are authorized to protect your own safety.
Never adjust the bar and the chain while the engine is running.
The chain should always be sharp, tight and well lubricated.
When the chain saw can no longer be repaired, return it to an
authorized service shop.
BAR AND CHAIN INSTALLATION (fig. 22)
* Removing the bar cover (2)
- release the chain brake by pulling the protection guard 7
towards the tubular handle;
- unscrew the hex nuts (1) with the special wrench and remove
the cover (2).
* Move the chain tensioner slide towards the rear part by
turning the screw (3) counterclockwise.
* Put on gloves before installing the chain, the bar or before
tightening the chain.
* Position the bar vertically, head up, and install the chain
starting from the head.
* Make sure that the greasing hole (4) is clean.
* Rest the chain on the chain sprocket (5) and the bar on the
stud bolts (6), making sure that the chain teeth located on the
bar upper part are turned towards the bar tip.
* Put the cover (2) back in place and refit the nuts (1) without
tightening them.
WARNING
Carry out installation and tightening operations while the
engine is off.
20
CHAIN - TENSION ADJUSTMENT (fig. 22)
* After installation and if necessary during work, the chain
21
must be retightened.
* To correctly tension the chain, unscrew nuts (1) and turn the
screw (3) clockwise with a screwdriver, while pulling up the
bar end with your left hand and making sure the chain sticks
to the lower track;
* While still holding up the bar end, tighten nuts (1) tightly.
INFORMATION
The chain is properly stretched when it adheres to the lower
track and can be smoothly turned clockwise manually.
* Good chain tension and lubrication are key factors to
guarantee successful cutting and long saw service life. Use
only IBEA cutterbar lubrificant.
4.4. CHAIN - RUNNING-IN
Control chain turning at slow speed for about two minutes
and make sure that the oil pump works normally.
Stop the engine and adjust chain tension.
Start the engine and allow the chain to heat up by performing
a few cuts using little pressure.
Repeat the adjustment until the chain has reached its
maximum elongation.
FUEL AND CHAIN LUBE OIL TOP-UPS (fig. 23)
* Rest the chain saw on flat ground.
* Have fuel and lube oil drums available with spouts to make
pouring easier.
* Have a fire extinguisher available.
