Panel information
1 POWER Switch
By pressing the POWER switch, the indicator above the switch will
light and power will be supplied to the unit. By pressing it once again,
the indicator will go out and power will be cut off.
2 PHONES Jack
This jack is for connecting the headphones.
Control the headphone volume by using the PHONES LEVEL control.
You cannot control the volume or tone of the sound from the head-
phones by using the VOLUME control, tone (BASS, TREBLE) con-
trols, or LOUDNESS switch.
When not using headphones, be sure to remove the plug from this
jack.
3 PHONES
LEVEL Control
This control is used to control the volume of the sound from the head-
phones.
By turning it to the right the volume will increase, and
vice-versa.
*
When not using headphones, set this control to the MIN position.
4 Tone Controls (BASS/TREBLE)
These are controls used for adjusting the tone level of sound produced
from speaker systems and headphones.
The BASS control can be used for adjusting the low-frequency sound,
and the TREBLE control can be used for adjusting the high-frequency
sound.
The tone of the respective controls is emphasized when the
controls are turned to the right from the central position, and when
turned to the left, tone is reduced.
When the tone controls are set to the central position, frequency
characteristics are flat.
5 TONE Switch
Set this switch to the ''ON"' position when adjusting the sound qual-
ity with the tone controls.
When this switch is released to the ''DEFEAT"' position, the tone con-
trol circuitry is isolated and a flat frequency response is obtained.
In this case, the sound quality cannot be adjusted even if the tone
controls are operated.
6 VOLUME Control
This control adjusts the sound volume to speaker systems.
Turning
it to the right increases the volume; make adjustments while actual-
ly listening to music, etc.
This control can also be used for adjusting the sound balance.
The
side of the control at the front (nearest you) controls the left chan-
nel, and rear part of the control (away from you) controls the right
channel.
Each of these controls can be rotated separately to adjust
the balance of sound volume between the left and right channels.
7 LOUDNESS
Switch
The human ear is such that the bass, and treble response drop off
and are hard to hear when the volume is reduced.
Under low-volume
conditions, the sound appears to have little substance but when the
LOUDNESS
switch is ''ON'' position, the bass, and treble are em-
phasized to give a more balanced effect.
The frequency response
is made flat when the switch is released to the 'OFF' position.
8 MODE Switch
Use for switching between stereo and monaural.
STEREO:
Set to STEREO when listening to stereo programs.
MONO:
Set to MONO when listening to monaural programs.
Even
when the program signal is input to the right or left channel only,
the monaural output will be delivered to both the right and left
speakers.
9 TAPE Switch
Press this switch to the ''ON"' position when you wish to play a tape
in the tape deck connected to the TAPE terminals.
Upon completion
of tape play, press this switch once again to the ''OFF"' position.
*
When this switch is set to the ''ON"' position, you cannot listen
to another program source.
10 INPUT SELECTOR
This selector is used to select the desired program.
PHONO:
Set the selector to this position when you wish to play a
record on the turntable connected to the PHONO terminals.
TUNER:
Set the selector to this position when you wish to receive
a radio broadcast using the tuner connected to the TUNER ter-
minals.
CD:
Set the selector to this position when you wish to play a com-
* pact disc in the compact disc player connected to the CD terminals.
AUX:
Set the selector to this position when you wish to play another
unit connected to the AUX terminals.
