Important Information
Check each time before driving the vehicle and at regu-
lar intervals thereafter, depending on the condition of
the roads, that the box is firmly attached to the load car-
rier, that the contents are adequately secured, the roof
box is closed and locked and that the key is removed.
If the load is not adequately secured or the roof bars and/
or roof box not securely attached, they may become loo-
se while driving and cause a serious accident.
Observe the fact that the vehicle height is increased and
that the driving characteristics of the vehicle are altered
( sensitivity to cross-winds, behaviour on cornering and
braking) when the roof box is attached, and particularly
when it is loaded. No further load may be attached to the
external parts of the roof box.
The maximum permitted weight of the vehicle must not
be exceeded. The maximum permitted roof load as speci-
fied by the vehicles manufacturer must not be exceeded.
Calculation of the actual roof load:
weight of the load carrier (roof bars)
+ weight of the roof box
+ weight of the contents
= actual roof load
Tare weight of the roof box:
Vision 650
= 21kg
Vision 850
= 27kg
The vehicle's speed must be adapted to the load being
transported and, naturally, also to the legal speed restric-
tions. In the absence of any existing speed restriction,
we recommend a maximum speed of 130kph (80mph).
When transporting loads of any kind, however, the
vehicle's speed must be adjusted to take account of the
prevailing road conditions, such as the road surface,
traffic conditions, wind conditions, etc.
The roof box should be carefully cleaned and maintai-
ned, particularly in the winter months. For cleaning, use
only water with a normal detergent which contains no
additives (such as alcohol, chlorine and ammonia) as
these could damage the surface of the roof box. Please
do not use any cockpit sprays for cleaning your roof
box. The locks should be lubricated with spray oil (do
not apply to the plastic surface).
Please observe the following when using the roof
box:
- The height of the vehicle can increase by up to 60cm
(depending on the roof bars used).
- Take extra care when entering low garage door-
ways or driving under low gateways, low-hanging
tree branches, etc.
- Wind noise can develop.
- The roof box and the roof bars must be removed when
using an automatic car-wash.
- Apart from observing the information given in these
instructions for use, you must also observe the infor-
mation provided with the roof bars and in the owner's
manual for the vehicle.
- In order to save fuel and for the safety of other road
users, the roof box and the roof bars should be remo-
ved when not in use.
- For your own safety, only use safety tested (e.g. GS)
roof bars approved for use with your vehicle.
- To prevent increased lifting forces from developing,
the roof box must be mounted with no angle of incli-
nation ( as horizontally as possible to the road sur-
face).
- Where no information to the contrary is given by the
vehicle manufacturer and if permitted by the technical
specification of the vehicle, the carrier rails should be
spaced as far apart as possible – within the permissible
range of the adjustable quick-fit attachment units.
Note that no alterations may be made to the attach-
ment units of the roof box (e.g. drilling additional ho-
les).
These instructions for use should be stored together with
the vehicle's owner's manual and kept in the vehicle for
future reference.
If any alterations are made to the fitting kit or to the roof
box, or if replacement parts or accessories from another
manufacturer are used, the manufacturer will provide no
warranty and accept no responsibility whatsoever for
material damage or accidents arising. For this reason,
you should adhere strictly to these instructions for use
and use no parts other than the original parts and acces-
sories supplied. Should you lose any parts or if any
parts should wear out, use only original replacement
parts which are available from your dealer or the manu-
facturer.
In order to expedite the supply of replacement parts and
to avoid time-consuming queries, always quote the "BA
number" when ordering replacement parts or making
any other enquiries. The BA number can be found on a
sticker attached to the top of the roof box.
In order to obtain replacements for lost or defective keys
as quickly as possible, we recommend that you make a
note of the lock and the key numbers.
The manufacturer accepts no responsibility for da-
mage and accidents caused as a result of non-obser-
vance of the instructions for use or through alterati-
ons made to components or the use of non-original
replacement parts.
