Cleaning and Care
NOTICE
•
Do not use any toxic, corrosive or abrasive cleaning agents or scouring sponges to clean
the device. These can damage the surface.
1. Take the portafi lter (10) out of the device and empty it (see the "Handling and Operation"
chapter – "Removing the Portafi lter from the Device" ).
2. Remove the used sieve insert (11) (see the "Handling and Operation" chapter – "Inserting /
Removing the Sieve Insert").
3. Empty the drip tray (8) after each use (see the "Handling and Operation" chapter – "Inserting /
Removing the Drip Tray").
4. Clean all used accessories with mild detergent and warm water.
5. Wipe down the housing with a damp cloth. If necessary, use a little mild detergent to remove
more intense soiling.
6. Check the mains connecting cable regularly for any damage.
Cleaning the Steam Nozzle
To prevent blockages, the steam nozzle (4) must be cleaned after each use.
1. Pull down the plastic attachment of the steam nozzle and clean the attachment with mild
detergent and warm water.
2. Turn the metal tube over the drip tray (8).
3. Turn the selector switch (13) to the
the metal tube.
4. Wipe down the metal tube with a damp cloth.
If the metal tube has become clogged, you can release the blockage with a needle.
Descaling
Limescale deposits have an adverse effect not only on the quality of the coffee and the water, but
they also cause power losses and shorten the lifespan of the device. The thicker a limescale layer is,
the more diffi cult it is to remove.
We therefore recommend regularly removing limescale deposits with a descaling agent in accord-
ance with the water quality in your area and how often the device is used (approx. every 2 – 6
weeks).
The fi rst indications that descaling is required are a large amount of steam being produced and
slower brewing of the coffee.
