3. Installation with Windows XP x64 bit edition
Preparation
Ensure that your Windows XP user account has
administrator privileges; otherwise, the driver installation will not be successful.
After you insert the PC Card controller into your laptop, the Add Hardware Wizard
detects it automatically and installs the correct drivers. It then asks you to restart
your system. After your laptop restarts, the controller is ready for use.
You can check whether the PC Card controller was
installed properly under Start -> Control Panel ->
Performance and Maintenance -> System -> Hardware -> Device Manager. The
following must appear without a yellow exclamation mark:
IEEE 1394 bus host controllers

VIA OHCI-compliant IEEE 1394 host controller
Universal serial bus controllers
•
VIA Rev 5 or higher USB universal host controller
•
VIA Rev 5 or higher USB universal host controller
•
VIA USB enhanced host controller

4. Installation with Windows Vista (all editions)
After you insert the PC Card controller into your laptop, the Add Hardware Wizard
detects it automatically and installs the correct drivers. It then asks you to restart
your system. After your laptop restarts, the controller is ready for use.
You can check whether the PC card controller was installed properly under
Start (Windows logo) -> Control Panel -> System and Maintenance ->
Device Manager.
In some circumstances, you may be asked by User Account Control for your
permission to continue. Click -> Continue. Now check the following entries, which
should be present without yellow exclamation marks.
