If the smoke duct is inside the building and its length is> 4
meters, it must be strictly insulated.
The smoke ducts must be prepared with at least one airtight
socket for possible smoke sampling.
All sections of the smoke duct must be accessible for inspection.
Inspection openings must be provided for cleaning.
CHIMNEY
Definition: vertical duct with the purpose of collecting and expelling
the combustion products coming from a single appliance at a suitable
height from the ground.
Technical requirements:
Be certified for solid fuels.
Be sealed against combustion products, insulated and insulated
according to use.
Be adequately spaced from flammable materials with an air gap
or insulation.
Have preferably circular, constant, free and independent internal
section.
Have walls that are as smooth as possible and without
constrictions; the regular curves and without discontinuity.
It is mandatory that the chimney is equipped with an inspectable
chamber for the collection of solid materials and any
condensation placed under the entrance to the smoke channel.
No other fireplace, stove, boiler, or extractor hood of any kind
must be connected.
It is forbidden to allow other air supply channels and pipes for
plant engineering to pass inside the flue, even if oversized.
The connection in chimneys with a hydraulic diameter greater
than 150 mm is prohibited, in this case an internal ducting must
be performed.
CHIMNEY POT
Definition: device placed at the top of the chimney to facilitate the
dispersion of the combustion products into the atmosphere.
Technical requirements:
Be shaped to prevent rain, snow and foreign bodies from entering
the chimney / ducted system.
Be built in such a way that, even in the event of winds from any
direction and with any inclination and in all weather conditions, the
evacuation of combustion products is still ensured (windproof
chimney pot).
It must be placed outside the reflux area.
Any buildings or other obstacles that exceed the height of the
chimney pot must not be close to the chimney itself.
It must be free of mechanical suction means.

ATTENTION: In Italy, the wall flue exhaust is
strictly prohibited by all national, regional and local
laws. In some European countries, wall flue gas discharge
is allowed. Below are three diagrams for wall flue exhaust in
the countries where it is allowed.
