Cleaning/replacing the Spark Plug
1. Pull the spark plug cable.
2. Unscrew the spark plug © with the included
spark plug wrench. Remove the carbon from
the electrodes with a copper wire brush.
3. Inspect the electrodes with a suitable gauge.
The distance has to be 0.6 mm.
4. First carefully screw the spark plug, by hand,
and finally tighten with the spark plug wrench.
Plug the spark plug cable onto the spark plug.
Make sure not to overtighten the spark plug, to
avoid cross-threading.
Only use sparks plugs of the type F7RTC.
Using an incorrect spark plug can cause
engine damage.
Air Filter Cleaning
A dirty air filter will restrict air flow to the carburettor which leads to reduced
engine performance. Clean the air filter frequently. Operating the engine with a
very soiled or damaged air filter assembly, will allow dirt to enter the engine
and this will cause rapid engine wear.
1. Close the gas cock (6) by turning completely to the left. Loosen the first
wing nut from the air filter cover (2) and remove the cover.
2. Unscrew the next wing nut and remove the air filter assembly. The air filter
assembly consists of the paper filter and the foam filter element. Remove
the foam filter element from the paper filter. When the paper filter is lightly
soiled tap the filter carefully on a flat, hard surface. Or blow compressed
air through the paper filter from the inside. If the paper filter is heavily
soiled, replace it.
3. Clean the foam filter element with warm water and mild detergent. Allow
the foam filter element to dry completely before using again.
4. Dip the foam filter element in clean engine oil and squeeze out excess oil
(do not wring out!). If too much oil is left in the foam filter element, the
engine will smoke during next operation.
5. Reattach the filter assembly in reverse order.
