NOTE: Do not use tools to attach the fi ttings.
Due to the wide variety of different tubing/hose measuring
standards used throughout the pond industry, Aquascape
has included different sized tapered hose fi ttings with your
new fi lter. Select the fi tting that best fi ts your new or current
tubing/hose.
We recommend putting the fi tting on the fi lter before
attaching the tubing/hose. Once the fi tting is in place, attach
the tubing/hose onto the fi tting with a twisting motion,
pushing it into place. In some instances the tubing/hose
may be tight and diffi cult to use with hose fi tting barbs. If
this is the case, we recommend heating the hose with the
use of a hair dryer or simply dipping the hose for a few
seconds in very hot water. Lubrication can also be used; we
recommend silicone grease or olive oil.
• Select the Multi-Hose Adapter fi tting that best fi ts your new
or current tubing/hose. It is recommended to use as large
of a diameter of tubing as possible in order to achieve
maximum water fl ow. (up to 1½ inch diameter).
• If using a pipe diameter larger than the smallest section
of the Multi-Hose Adapter, trim off the smaller sections to
avoid fl ow restriction (see below).

• After completing the plumbing, plug the pump and the
UltraKlean
Pond Filter into an outlet that is protected by
™
a ground fault circuit interrupter (GFCI). Once the pump is
running and water is circulating through the UltraKlean
Pond Filter, check for any fi tting leaks where the external
connections are made. Since the fi lter is located outside
the pond, even a small leak must be corrected.
Operation and Maintenance
• The following diagrams illustrate the fl ow of water during
the "Filtration" setting and the fl ow of water during the
"Backwash" setting.
