Air dam to be trimmed.
Note: Prior to installation see Sheet 4 to determine if your vehicle has additional oil cooler.
It is necessary to either remove lower air dam or trim air dam to install this hitch. See Picture above. CONSULT VEHICLE OWNER BEFORE REMOVING OR CUTTING PLASTIC AIR DAM.
1.
Trim or remove lower air dam: Mark the center line on the vehicle's air dam. Mark 1-5/8"[41.3] from bottom of air dam, then 3-1/2"[88.9] up. Mark 1-3/4"[44.5] from centerline over, then 3-1/2"[88.9]
back. Obtain owner permission to cut. The air dam must be trimmed or removed for hitch installation. Recommend drilling small hole in corners then trimming out the knockout for the hitch receiver tube to
pass through air dam.
2.
Remove electrical: Remove electrical plug on driver's frame rail, if present by disconnecting from frame rail.
3.
Loosen outer flange nuts: (If present) Using an 18mm socket loosen the flange nuts on the skid bracket attached to the frame rails, if present. Both sides, to make the installation easier.
4.
Remove inner flange nuts and bolts: Remove the inside flange nuts that attach the skid brackets to the frame rail. Remove the bolts, using the fish wire (item 6) attach the wire to the bolts and drop into
the frame rail and out the side to remove fasteners. Return fasteners to owners.
5.
Install bottom fasteners: Feed the coiled end of the fish wire through the attachment hole in the bottom of the frame and out the side to the opening in the frame rail. Attach the carriage bolt and spacer
(item 5) to the fish wire and pull the fish wire with fasteners into location through the hole. Leave pull wires attached. Repeat the same process on the both frame rails.
6.
Install side fasteners: Feed the coil end of the fish wire through one of the holes on the side of the skid plate and into the frame rail, then back out the side of the frame rail. Attach the carriage bolt and
spacer ( item 2 ) to the fish wire and pull the fish wire with fasteners into location through the hole. Leave pull wires attached. Repeat the same process on remaining hole. Repeat the same process on the
both frame rails. Push fastener back into frame rail leaving the fish wire exposed. NOTE: If the skid plate bracket is not present use the spacers (item 7) between the frame rails and hitch, both sides.
7.
Install hitch: Raise the hitch into position being careful of the cooling lines on passengers side. Feed the pull wires through the slots/holes on the brackets. NOTE: If oil cooler is present, slide oil cooler
bracket back on over forwardmost attachment (Oil cooler should rest just above crosstube of hitch). Feed the receiver tube through the trimmed hole in the air dam. Line up the holes in hitch side bracket
with holes in skid plate and frame rail. Pull side carriage bolt one at a time back through the frame rail, skid plate and hitch bracket. Feed conical washer over pull wire, using the washer to hold the bolt in
place, remove the fish wires and attach the hex nut. Tighten to hold hitch in place, repeat on all fasteners. See Figure 1
8.
Tighten all ½-13 GR5 fasteners with torque wrench to 75 Lb.-Ft. (102 N*M).
9.
Reattach electrical: Reattach electrical plug on driver's frame rail, if removed.
10. Tighten bolts: (If present) Tighten the outside flange nuts on the factory skid plate.
Note: check hitch frequently, making sure all fasteners and ball are properly tightened. If hitch is removed, plug all holes in trunk pan or other body panels to prevent entry of water and exhaust fumes. A hitch or ball which has been damaged should be removed and replaced. Observe
safety precautions when working beneath a vehicle and wear eye protection. Do not cut access or attachment holes with a torch.
This product complies with safety specifications and requirements for connecting devices and towing systems of the state of New York, V.E.S.C. Regulation V-5 and SAE J684.
