GENERAL SAFETY WARNINGS AND
PRECAUTIONS
1.1 – WORKING IN SAFETY!
This manual contains important instructions and warnings for per-
sonal safety.
Incorrect installation may cause serious physical injury to those working
on or using the system. For this reason, during installation, always strictly
observe all instructions in this manual.
If this is the first time you are setting up an automation for rolling shutters, we
recommend that you read this entire manual with care before starting any work.
Also, when reading the manual, keep the various kit components on hand to
check and verify the relative instructions (with the exception of programming
operations). If in doubt, contact the Nice service centre for clarifications.
Considering the risk situations that may arise during installation phases
and use of the product, the automation must be installed in observance of
the current legislation, standards and the following warnings.
1.2 – INSTALLATION WARNINGS
• Before starting installation, check that the specific motor model is suitable for
the automation of your shutter (see paragraph 2.2). If not suitable, do NOT
proceed with installation.
• All preliminary set-up work, including cable laying, assembly of automation
devices and electrical connections, with the exception of the system con-
nection to the mains, may be performed by personnel with standard skills,
provided that all instructions in this manual are strictly observed in the speci-
fied order.
• Connection of the automation to the mains must be performed by a
skilled and qualified electrician, in observance of local current safety stan-
dards and these instructions (see paragraph 3.2).
• All installation and maintenance operations must be performed with the
automation disconnected from the power supply. If the power disconnect

device is not visible from the location of the shutter, a suitable notice must be
affixed on the switch stating "WARNING! MAINTENANCE IN PROGRESS".
• Before starting installation, all unnecessary electrical cables must be removed
and all mechanisms not required for motorized shutter operation must be dis-
abled.
• If the tubular motor is installed at a height of less than 2.5 m from the ground
(or other support surface), moving parts of the automation must be protected
to prevent easy access. However access to the motor must be guaranteed
for maintenance purposes when required.
• During installation, handle the tubular motor with care to avoid crushing,
impact, dropping or contact with liquids of any type (fig. 1). Never drill or
apply screws on the tube containing the motor. Keep the tubular motor away
from sources of strong heat and ensure that it is not exposed to flames. This
may damage system components and cause malfunctions or hazardous sit-
uations. If this occurs, suspend installation immediately and contact the Nice
Service Centre for assistance.
• During installation, no screws must be fitted on the roller section crossed
internally by the tubular motor. This could cause damage to the motor.
• The power supply cable is in PVC to guarantee suitability for installation
exclusively indoors.
• During installation handle the tubular motor power cable with care. If subject
to damage, this may constitute a hazard.
• During installation or programming of the tubular motor, keep all persons
away from the shutter when moving.
1.3 – OPERATION WARNINGS
• Do not allow children to play with the control devices.
• Check the automation frequently to detect possible imbalance, signs of wear
or damage. Suspend use immediately if maintenance is required.
• Check the automation during a manoeuvre, ensuring that there are no per-
sons in the vicinity of the shutter until the movement is completed.
• Never activate the automation if anyone is performing work nearby, such as
cleaning windows; disconnect the power supply before these opera-
tions.
