2.5.1 Brakes
Important comments and precautionary
measures:
Ask an approved O2feel reseller to carry out
maintenance work on brakes.
Do not use oily liquids on brake linings, disks. If
you do, this will hinder the performance of your
brakes.
Only use original spare parts. Failure to do so runs
the risk of damaging or hindering the performance
of your bike.
Hydraulic disc brakes
Hydraulic disc brakes are fi tted with a master
cylinder next to the manual brake lever. The
hydraulic fl uid travels to the brake cylinders via a
brake line. The brake pads are pressed against the
disc by pistons. This type of brake is very powerful
and does not require much maintenance.
Whenever you adjust them, test the brakes by
pushing the bike fi rmly whilst applying the brake
lever. Only use your bike if it brakes safely.
Regularly check to make sure that the tubes and
outer casings are properly sealed, including every
time you go out. Tubes and fi ttings that are not
sealed properly may result in braking fl uid leaks
and prevent the brakes from working properly.
If any fl uid leaks from the braking system, stop
using the bike and get a specialist to carry out the
necessary repairs immediately.
If you cycle with the brakes in this state, there is a
signifi cant risk of the brakes failing.
When transporting or storing the bike upside
down, air bubbles can form in the braking system
reservoir. This can aff ect the performance of your
brakes.
Cleaning the braking system
If the brake pads come into contact with oil or
grease, they will need to be replaced. If the brake
disc comes into contact with oil or grease, it will
need to be replaced. Failure to do so will hinder
the performance of your brakes signifi cantly..
Use isopropyl alcohol, soapy water or a dry cloth
to clean and maintain the braking system. Do
not use commercially available noise-reduction
solutions or cleaning products for brakes as they
may damage certain parts, such as the seals for
example.
Avoid getting fat or grease on the disc brake pads
during chain and transmission maintenance.
2.5.2 Derailleurs
Your O2feel bike will be delivered as carefully as
we can. Contact your approved O2feel reseller
immediately if any faults occur.
However, here are some basic rules for your
rear derailleur:
The cable stops are the fi rst thing to adjust on
your rear derailleur. Quick reminder: the cable
stops defi ne the position of the derailleur from the
small cog to the big one and prevent the chain
from jumping. They are in the right position when
the derailleur moves from top to bottom without
derailing and when you don't hear any clicking on
the smallest and biggest cogs.
– Adjusting the cable stop on the small cog side
(High cable stop): aligning the chain and the guide
roller with the small cog
– Adjusting the cable stop on the large cog side
(Low cable stop): aligning the chain and the guide
roller with the large cog
