IR Adapter for Dräger Polytron 7000, Operating Instructions
A prerequisite for the use of the IR adapter for Dräger Polytron 7000 is precise knowledge of and
compliance with the Operating Instructions for the Dräger Polytron 7000 (Order No. 90 23 758)!
Purpose
IR adapter for Dräger Polytron 7000:
— For operation of the Dräger Polytron 7000 with a handheld PC over distances of up to
3 metres.
— The signals between the two IR interfaces are carried on optical fibre waveguides.
Preparation
— Dirt in the connectors can interfere with the IR communication or even make it impossible.
Protect the connectors for the optical fibre waveguides against dirt. If necessary, clean the
connectors.
1 Insert the connector for the optical fibre into the mounting plate:
the mark is on the left.

Turn the connect 90
clockwise:
the mark is at the top,
the locking balls are engaged.
2 Insert the optical fibre connector in the HHT mounting.
3 Place the Palm Pilot m5 15 Ex with leather wallet in the HHT mounting (83 18 080):
the IR interface is in front of the optical fibres.
If you use a Palm Pilot 515 without leather wallet and without explosion protection,
the enclosed foam-rubber pad must be placed below the Palm Pilot in order to raise the
IR interface to the correct height.
A handheld of the type "Zire 31" or "Tunsten T3" is placed in the appropriate HHT mounting
(Order No. 83 17 430 for a Tungsten T3 or Order No. 83 17 440 for a Zire 31) without a
foam-rubber pad, leather wallet or protective cover.
Connection to the Dräger Polytron 7000 measuring head
Secure the mounting plate to the measuring head:
4 The pins must lie in the openings on the sides.
5 The mark must be at the top.
