Enerpac parts are designed to fit properly and
withstand high loads.
3.0 START UP PREPARATIONS
IMPORTANT: It is mandatory that the
operator has a full understanding of all
instructions, safety regulations, cautions
and warnings, before starting to operate
any of this high force tool equipment. In case of
doubt, contact Enerpac.
3.1 General
1. ENERPAC pumps are delivered ready for action,
meaning that the necessary power and pilot
connections have been made and that the
reservoir is filled with hydraulic oil.
2. For electric-driven pumps, the power supply
cable has to be fitted with a suitable electrical
connector to connect the pump to the available
power source.
3. When power source is an electric motor, make
sure that voltage indicated on the unit's identi-
fication plate corresponds with available voltage.
4. Position the pump on a level surface. Replace the
plug located on the black reservoir cover with the
vent/filler plug (nr.3) marked 'OIL" .
5. Check the hydraulic oil level in the reservoir by
observing the oil level indicator (nr.2). In case of
need, remove vent/filler plug and add hydraulic
oil. After filling, mount the vent/fill plug again.
3.2 Power sources
Depending on the type of pump ordered an electric
motor or air motor is mounted.
Electric driven pumps (PEM, PEN, PER serie 700
bar or WEM, WEN, WER serie 350 bar)
Install a suitable electrical connector to the power
cable and proceed according to paragraph 3.3.
Air driven pumps (PAM serie)
The airline feeding the motor has to be equipped with
the following:
• Moisture filter with a filtration rate of 50 micron and
a capacity of upto 2,5 m
• Pressure
reducing
2,5 m
/min at 7 bar.

valve,
adjustable
• Oil mist lubricator with a capacity of upto
2,5 m
/min, adjustable up to a minimum of one

drop per 0,2 m
All the above mentioned components are available
from ENERPAC assembled into one service unit
(Modelnr.
BRV-100).
paragraph 3.3.
3.3 Precautions
1. When operating the pump, make sure that it is
positioned horizontally and that it stands on a
solid and level base.
2. DO NOT obstruct the flow of cooling air around
the motor. Always keep motor clean for optimum
cooling. In areas with high ambiant temperatures,
it may be necessary to provide additional cooling
for the motor.
4.0 START UP PROCEDURES
4.1 General
Start up procedures are described under the
following headings: electric-driven pumps §4.2 and
air-driven pumps §4.3.
4.2 Electric-driven pumps
1. Set the hydraulic valve of the pump to "Neutral".
2. Verify if the selection switch of the motor is in the
"OFF" or "O" position. In case the pump is
equipped with a starter box, press the "OFF" or
"O" button.
3. Connect the pump to the required power source.
4. Check the direction of motor rotation by operating
the selector switch several times in the "ON-OFF"
(I-O) position. In case of a starter box, press the
"ON-OFF" (I-O) button a few times. During this
"ON-OFF" (I-O) operation, observe the motor fan.
The direction of rotation must be clockwise. If the
direction of rotation is wrong, check the wiring of
the electrical connector. Proceed according to
paragraph 4.4.
4.3 Air-driven pumps
1. Adjust the air/flow pressure to a maximum of 2,5
m
3
/min at 7 bar with the air pressure regulator.
Adjust the oil mist lubricator to one drop per
0,2 m
3
/min.
2. Set the hydraulic valve of the
pump to "Neutral" and check if
the air inlet valve (nr.8) located
on the pump is in the closed
position.
3. Connect the airline by means of
a suitable hose to the air inlet
upto
port located on the pump.
Proceed according to §4.4.
