AC Power Connection
Locate the jack labeled DC 24V in the back at the base of the mStation Orb™. (See Detail
B of the diagram on page 4.) Insert the matching end of the supplied AC power adapter
into the jack, making sure it is pushed in completely.
!
Always use the AC power adapter that came with your mStation Orb™. Using
another power adapter may cause the unit to malfunction or become damaged.
Also, never disconnect the power adapter from the mStation Orb™ while the
other end is plugged into an AC outlet, as this may cause an electric shock.
Plug the power cord into an AC wall outlet or UL approved power strip or surge protector.
The Status Indicator on the top of the mStation Orb™ will glow amber.
There are several types of connection alternatives to choose from:
If you are connecting an iPod with a dock connector, go to the section titled "iPod
Installation."
To connect the mStation Orb™ with your computer using a USB or FireWire Cable,
skip to the section titled "Computer Connections."
If your iPod does not have a dock connector, or you will be using another audio
source such as an MP3 Player with a 1/8" headphone jack, skip to the section titled
"Line In Connections."
To prevent damage to the speakers, make sure the power of your audio device
(iPod, MP3 player, CD player, etc.) is turned OFF before connecting it to your
mStation Orb™.
iPod Installation
To install an iPod with a dock connector, carefully but firmly seat the iPod into the docking
port on the top of the mStation Orb™, making sure the iPod is facing forward. The iPod
will immediately turn on. Proceed to the section titled "Operations" on page 7.
Computer Connections
To enable access to iTunes for an iPod connected to the mStation's docking port, you can
connect the mStation Orb™ to your computer by using either a USB or FireWire cable.
Connections to the mStation Orb™ are made in the back at the base of the unit.
(See Detail B of the diagram on page 4.)
Newer generation iPods (5G), including the iPod nano, do not support a FireWire
connection to access iTunes. If you connect one of these iPods to your com-
puter through the mStation Orb™, you will get a message on your iPod' s display
that says, "FireWire connections are not supported. To transfer songs, connect the USB
cable provided. " Make sure to check the instructions that came with your iPod to deter-
mine which cable to use for your particular model.
For USB, insert one end of the supplied USB cable into the "
end of the cable into the USB jack of the computer. For FireWire, insert one end of the
FireWire cable (not supplied) into the "
jack of the computer. Proceed to the section titled "Operations" on page 7.
If an iPod is connected to the mStation Orb' s ™ docking port when you plug the USB
or FireWire cable into your computer, the iPod will automatically appear on your
computer' s desktop and iTunes will launch. The same will occur if you connect an
iPod to the docking port while your computer is plugged into the mStation Orb™.
!
When connecting the mStation Orb™ to your computer, choose either USB or
FireWire. Do not connect both.
