Installation on Christmas Tree
Christmas trees because of the pine
oils, and particularly after being in a
heated room for a week or two, are
very flammable. Tree decorations
may also be flammable and should
be kept clear of the lamps as far as
possible. Christmas trees should be
mounted securely so that they are un-
likely to fall over, or be knocked over
by children or pets. They must be kept
clear of heat sources, including spot
lamps and particularly CANDLES.
Take care when decorating the tree,
use a stepladder if the tree is tall and
wear shoes. Many more accidents
are caused by treading on plugs and
lamps in bare feet than faulty electri-
cal equipment.

Guidance for Seasonal and Holiday
lighting sets.
Follow these and any other instruc-
tion provided by the manufacturer, it
is for your safety.
1. Install the lighting chains so that
there is easy access to the socket-out-
let so that the lights can be turned off
when you go out or go to bed. Never
leave lighting chains on when you go
out or go to bed.
2. Do not remove or insert lamps
while the lighting chain is connected
to the supply.
3. For series-connected lamps other
than those in sealed lighting chains,
replace failed lamps immediately by
lamps of the same rated voltage and
wattage to prevent overheating; this
requirement does not apply to sealed
lighting chains.
4. Do not connect the chain to the
supply while it is in the packing.
5. For series-connected lamps where
fused lamps are used, do not replace
a fused lamp with a non-fused lamp.
6. Ensure all lampholders are fitted
with a lamp.
7. Ordinary lighting chains marked for
indoor use shall not be used out-
doors.
8. Lighting chains which rely on
gaskets to provide protection against
ingress of dust and moisture must not
be used without all gaskets being in
place.
9. Make sure to follow the markings
regarding series and parallel connec-
tion of lighting strings.
10. Only replace 'fused' lamps (some-
times identified by a white mark
on the glass) with identical 'fused'
lamps.
11. For non-standard lamps (e.g.
lamps of push-in type) replacement
lamps must be of the same types as
those delivered originally or a type
specified by the manufacturer.
12. Do not attempt to replace non-re-
placeable lamps.
