Caution: Positioning and drilling must be
done straight to avoid excessive force being
exerted on the lock which may result in the
premature wearing of its mechanical parts.
Use a variable speed drill.
You must do Step 1 first.

1. Use the ⁄ " (8 mm) drill bit to drill the

two holes marked A (see figure 3-1).
Begin drilling at a slow speed and
increase the speed gradually until the
tip of the drill bit emerges from the other
side of the door. Repeat this procedure
from the other side of the door. This
technique will prevent cracking the door
or breaking the drill bit.
2. If this is a new door installation, use the

2 ⁄ " (54 mm) hole saw with a pilot drill

bit to drill the hole marked B.
If there was a previous lock on the door,
this step is not necessary.
3. 6214 and 6218 Series locks - Use the

⁄ " (22 mm) hole saw to drill the hole

(C) in the edge of the door as indicated
on the template.
6204 Series locks - Use the 1" (25 mm)
hole saw to drill the hole (C) in the edge of
the door as indicated on the template.
