Battery compartment
Start-up of the Device / Introduction
• Please read the operating instructions carefully before
using the device for the first time!
• Select a suitable location for the device, such as a dry,
flat, non-slip surface on which it is easy to operate the
machine.
• Ensure that the device is sufficiently ventilated!
• Sensitive surfaces such as the display may be protected
by plastic foil. Remove this foil.
Power Supply
1. Ensure that the voltage is the same as that indicated on
the model identification plate.
2. Connect the power cable supplied (see battery compart-
ment if necessary) to a properly installed safety power
socket and the mains connector AC on the back of the
machine.
Inserting the Batteries (Not Supplied)
1. Open the lid of the battery compartment on the bottom.
2. Insert 6 batteries of type UM 2 / R14 1.5 V. Please ensure
that the polarity is correct (see the floor of the battery
compartment)!
3. Then close the battery lid.

NOTE:
When a mains cable is connected the batteries are auto-
matically switched off.
CAUTION:
• Batteries may leak and lose battery acid. If the device
is not used for a longer period of time, remove the
batteries.
• Different battery types or new and used batteries must
not be used together.
• Batteries are not to be disposed of together with
domestic wastes. Dispose of the used batteries at the
relevant collection bin or at your dealer' s .
WARNING:
The batteries shall not be exposed to excessive heat such
as sunshine, fire or the like. Danger of explosion!
Transport Safety Device, CD Compartment
1. Open the CD compartment (3) by pulling the lid upwards
by the tab (4).
2. Before operating the machine for the first time, remove
the transport safety device from the CD player if it is still
in place.
General Operation
Switch On
Press the
button to turn on the device. The indicator lamp
POWER (19) lights up.
Switch Off
To turn off the device, press the
control lamp goes off. Unplug the device.
NOTE:
After approx. 10 minutes without signal or with very poor
signal, the device will automatically switch to standby.
Select the operating mode
Repeatedly press the FUNCTION button (11) to select the
desired operating mode.
Volume
By pressing the VOL+ / VOL– buttons (7) you can adjust the
desired volume.
NOTE:
After disconnecting the power supply, the device starts
automatically with the factory set volume. The factory
setting is low in order to avoid damage or loss of hearing
due to excessive switching-on volume.
