Operation instructions
1.1
Unit description
The VH 211 is an electrically powered direct heating unit for wall mounting. It is suitable for full
heating, for example in the bathroom, or as transitional and supplementary heating for smaller rooms,
such as hobby rooms and guest rooms.
To provide heating, ambient air is drawn in by the unit fan through openings in the rear panel, and is
then heated by the heating element and blown out evenly and without creating draughts, through the
air outflow grid (2) at the bottom of the unit.
1.2
Operation
Using the thermostat knob (1), the desired temperature can be adjusted between approximately 5 °C
and 35 °C.
The thermostat within the unit then keeps the ambient air constantly at the set value, by repeatedly
activating the heating for short periods.
Frost protection
If the unit is used as a frost protection safeguard, the thermostat knob should be turned fully
anticlockwise until it reaches the end limit stop. In this setting, the thermostat automatically switches
on the heating when the room temperature falls to approximately 5 °C.
The electricity supply must be isolated to take the unit out of operation.
External room thermostat
If required, the unit can be operated with a generally available external room thermostat. In these
circumstances the thermostat knob should be turned clockwise to the end limit stop. The room
thermostat should be fitted as far away from the unit as possible and at a height of at least 1.5 m.
1.3
Safety instructions
The unit must not be operated in rooms which are subject to a fire or explosion risk caused by
dust, gases or vapours.
Installation (electrical installation), as well as the first start-up and maintenance of this unit may
only be undertaken by a registered qualified installer in accordance with these instructions.
Under no circumstances must the unit be operated if work such as the laying, sanding, sealing,
cleaning with petrol, and maintenance (spraying, waxing) of floors and the like is being carried out
in the room where the unit is installed.
The wall surface and the air outlet grid of the unit can heat up to temperatures of over 85 °C. For
this reason, no objects of any kind must be placed on the unit, leaned against it, or put between the
heating unit and the wall (for example to dry the washing). In addition, no combustible, flammable,
or heat insulating objects or materials such as washing, blankets, magazines, containers holding floor
wax or petrol, spray cans and the like, should be placed in the immediate vicinity of the unit.
Danger of fire!
For objects of all kinds, such as for example furniture, drapes, curtains and textiles or other
flammable or non-flammable materials, the following minimum distances from the unit, particularly
from the air outlet grille, must be observed:
from the air outlet grille
from the unit sides
from the top of the unit
from the bottom of the unit
from the rear panel of the unit
The hot air must be able to exit unimpeded!
