g) Do not use any damaged implements. Check imple-
ments such as abrasive discs before each use for chips
and cracks, sanding pads for cracks, wear or strong
abrasion. If the power tool or implement has been
dropped, check it for damages or use an undamaged
implement. Once you have checked and fastened the
implement you and other persons nearby need to stay
outside the plane of the rotating implement and then let
the device run for 1 minute at maximum speed. Dam-
aged implements usually break within this test period.
h) Wear personal protective equipment. Depending on the
use, wear full facial protection, eye protection or safety
goggles. As far as appropriate, wear dust mask, hearing
protection, protective gloves or special aprons that
keep small abrasive and material particles away from
you. The eyes should be protected from foreign objects
flinging about and generated through different applications.
The dust or breathing masks must filter the dust generated
during use. Your hearing may suffer if you are exposed to
loud noise for extended periods.
i) Make sure other persons keep at a safe distance to
your work area. Anybody entering the work area must
wear personal protective equipment. Fragments of the
workpiece or broken implements may fling away and cause
injuries also outside the direct work area.
k) Keep the power cable away from rotating implements. If
you loose control over the device the power cable may be
severed or caught and your hand or arm may become en-
tangled by the rotating implement.
l) Never put down the power tool before the implement
has not come to a full standstill. The rotating implement
may come into contact with the storage area, and you may
loose control of the power tool as a result.
m) Do not let the power tool while carrying it. Your clothing
may be caught from accidental contact with the rotating im-
plement and the implement may penetrate your body.
n) Regularly clean the ventilation slots of your power tool.
The motor fan draws dust into the housing, and strong ac-
cumulation of metal dust may cause electrical hazards.
o) Do not use the power tool near flammable materials.
Sparks may ignite these materials.
p) Do not use implements requiring liquid coolants. The
use of water or other liquid coolants may cause an electrical
shock.
Kickback and corresponding safety instructions
Kickback is the sudden reaction of a rotating implement that
has become stuck or blocked, such as abrasive disc, sanding
pad, etc. Getting caught or blockage causes an abrupt stop of
the rotating implement. As a result, an uncontrolled power tool
accelerates against the rotational direction of the implement at
the point of blockage.
For example, if an abrasive disc gets stuck or blocked in the
workpiece, the edge of the abrasive disc that enters the work-
piece may become entangled and the abrasive disc may break
or cause kickback as a result. The abrasive disc then moves
toward the operator or away from the person, depending on the
rotational direction of the disc at the point of blockage. Abrasive
discs may also break as a result.

Kickback is the result of wrong or faulty use of the power tool. It
can be prevented through suitable precautions as described
below.
a) Hold the power tool firmly and position your body and
arms to enable them to counteract the kickback forces.
If so equipped, always use the auxiliary handle to have
maximum control over the kickback forces or reaction
moments when the tools starts up. The operator will be
able to manage the kickback and reaction forces through
proper precautions.
b) Never move your hands near rotating implements. The
implement may move over your hand during kickback.
c) Avoid being with your body in the area into which the
power tool moves during kickback. The kickback moves
the power tool in the direction opposite to the movement of
the abrasive disk at the point of blockage.
d) Exercise special caution when working in corners,
sharp edges, etc. Prevent implements from bouncing
back from the workpiece and becoming jammed. The ro-
tating implement tends to jam at corners, sharp edges or
when bouncing back. This causes a loss of control or kick-
back.
e) Do not use a chain blade or serrated saw blade. Such im-
plements often cause kickback or loss of control over the
power tool.
Special safety notes on sanding with abrasive paper
a) Do not use overdimensioned sanding discs but follow
the manufacturer specifications regarding the size of
the sanding discs. Sanding discs protruding beyond the
sanding pad may cause injuries as well as causing block-
age, tearing of the sanding discs or kickback.

Design of the connection cable according to IEC 60 245 (H
07 RN-F) with a core cross-section of at least
3 x 1.5 mm² for a maximum cable length of up to 25 m
3 x 2.5 mm² for cable lengths over 25m
Long and thin connection lines result in a potential drop. The
motor does not reach any longer its maximal power; the
function of the device is reduced.
Plugs and coupler outlets on connection cables must be
made of rubber, non-rigid PVC or other thermoplastic mate-
rial of same mechanical stability or be covered with this ma-
terial.
The connector of the connection cable must be splash-proof.
When running the connection line observe that it does not
interfere, is not squeezed, bended and the plug connection
does not get wet.
Wind off completely the cable when using a cable drum.
Regularly check the extension cables and replace them if
they are damaged.
Do not use any defective connection cables.
Do not set up any provisional electrical connections.
Never bypass protective devices or deactivate them.
Only hook up the machine by means of a fault-current circuit
breaker (30 mA).
