After a battery change, the compass must be recalibrated (see
"Compass calibration").
Neckband / carabine
The device is supplied with a neckband and a carabine. To fasten
the neckband or carabine, the short fastening band must be thread-
ed with the quick-lock on the back of the device. Pull the thin band
through the fastener hole on the back of the device. Lead the quick-
lock through the loop of the fastening band and pull on the quick-
lock. Now the quick-lock of the carabine or the neckband can be
fastened. To release the carabine or neckband, press both hooks of
the quick-lock and withdraw the carabine or neckband.

• CAUTION: The RESET (11) button deletes all saved data (time,
date, alarm time and calibration).
An incorrectly performed calibration follows with incorrect

For this reason, perform the calibration thoroughly and pre-

Compass usage
A compass is a measuring device that responds to the
earth's magnetic field. The correct use of the compass
function and its settings requires practical experience. If
you should not yet have sufficient experience, learn
from an expert or suitable publication.
The compass is intended for usage in the open air. Avoid using the
compass in the following locations, which can strongly interfere with
the magnetic field measurements of the compass and thereby pro-
vide incorrect results:
near power plants
in or near steel constructions
near household appliances
near steel bridges
(computers, TV, fax, etc.)
Strong magnetic exterior influences can slightly to completely inter-
fere with the compass display. In this case, the display shows SIG-
NAL DISTURB. After leaving the magnetic fields, the normal display
returns. Should the display show SIGNAL DISTURB over a long time
period, the compass must be recalibrated.
in cars, trains or airplanes
near or on metal surfaces
