• Press the COMPASS ON/OFF (1) button to switch on the com-
pass function.

• The compass appears in the display.
• When measuring, as with calibra-
tion, keep the compass horizontal.
The lower part of the device has a
type of water level. Hold the device
so that the air bubble moves to the
middle of the white circle.
• Turn the compass so that the compass needle points in the
desired direction. The corresponding compass data is now
shown in the display.
• Press the COMPASS ON/OFF (1) button to exit the compass
function. The compass display leaves the display.
To save battery power, switch off the compass function if it
is not needed.
Maintenance and servicing
A repair or opening of the device may only be per-
formed by a specialist who is familiar with the asso-
ciated dangers and appropriate regulations.

Inserting / changing batteries
Batteries do not belong in the hands of children.
Observe the correct polarity when inserting the bat-
teries. Do not leave batteries lying around; this pos-
es the danger of swallowing by children or pets. In
case of swallowing, contact a physician immediate-
ly! Leaking or damaged batteries may cause skin
corrosion. Therefore you should always wear suit-
able protective gloves! Make sure not to short-cir-
cuit the batteries or throw them into a fire. They may
not be recharged. Danger of explosion!
There are already 2 factory-installed batteries in the device.
Changing the batteries is necessary if is indicated in the dis-
play, the contrast becomes weak or the device not longer functions
properly. After changing the batteries, the device settings must be
adjusted again.
• Open the battery compartment cover. Use a suitable coin or
screwdriver. Turn the battery compartment cover until the arrow
on the cover is in the OPEN position.
• Insert two new CR 2430 lithium button cells using correct polarity.
• Reclose the battery compartment cover and turn to the LOCK
position.
