Warning! The vibration emission value during actual use of
the power tool can differ from the declared value depending
on the ways in which the tool is used. The vibration level may

When assessing vibration exposure to determine safety
measures required by 2002/44/EC to protect persons regularly
using power tools in employment, an estimation of vibration
exposure should consider, the actual conditions of use and the
way the tool is used, including taking account of all parts of the
operating cycle such as the times when the tool is switched off
and when it is running idle in addition to the trigger time.

Electrical safety

This tool is double insulated; therefore no earth
wire is required. Always check that the power
supply corresponds to the voltage on the rating
plate.
If the supply cord is damaged, it must be replaced by the

manufacturer or an authorised BLACK+DECKER Service
Centre in order to avoid a hazard.
Using an extension cable
Always use an approved extension cable suitable for the
u
power input of this tool (see technical data). Before use,
inspect the extension cable for signs of damage, wear and
ageing. Replace the extension cable if damaged or defec-
tive. When using a cable reel, always unwind the cable
completely. Use of an extension cable not suitable for the
power input of the tool or which is damaged or defective
may result in a risk of fire and electric shock.

Features
This tool includes some or all of the following features.
1. On/off switch

Assembly
Warning! Before assembly, make sure that the tool is
switched off and unplugged.
Fitting sanding sheets (fig. A & B - D)
Warning! Never use the tool without a sanding sheet or ac-
cessory in place.
Note: For best results always use punched sand paper. If your
sand paper is not punched then the dust collection canister
will not work.
Fitting sanding sheets with nylon loops (fig. A)
Make sure that the tool is switched off and unplugged.

Press the sheet firmly and evenly onto the sanding base
u
(4), making sure that the holes in the sheet line up with the
holes in the base.
Fitting regular sanding sheets (fig. B - D)
Make sure that the tool is switched off and unplugged.
u
Soften the sanding sheet by rubbing its non-abrasive side
u
over the edge of a worktop.
Press the paper clamp levers (5) upwards to release them
u
from the retaining grooves and open the paper clamps by
pressing them down (fig. B).
Place the sheet onto the sanding base (4), making sure
u
that the holes in the sheet line up with the holes in the
base (fig. C).
Insert the edge of the sanding sheet into the front paper
u
clamp as shown (fig. D).
Press the front paper clamp lever (5) downwards and
u
locate it in the retaining groove.
While keeping a slight tension on the sheet, insert the rear
u
edge of the sheet into the rear paper clamp.
Press the rear paper clamp lever (5) downwards and
u
locate it in the retaining groove.
Fitting and removing the dust collection canister
(fig. E & F)
Turn the dust collection canister lock (3) anti-clockwise.
u
Carefully slide out the dust collection canister (2).
u
Lift the filter (7) out and empty the contents of the dust col-
u
lection canister. The lid of the filter can be gently tapped to
remove any particles that cling or is can be brushed with a
soft clean brush.
