10. RAID Troubleshooting
If problems concerning your RAID controller should arise, check the following
points before contacting our hotline or consulting your local dealer:
-
Is the RAID controller properly installed?
-
Is the cable connection between the RAID controller and the hard disks correct?
-
Is a power cable attached to each hard disk?
-
Check the device manager to see if the driver is properly installed.
If all the conditions mentioned above are fulfilled, you can first partition and then
format the array. Please follow the instructions of the manufacturer of your operating
system. If the problem still cannot be solved, contact your local dealer or our free
hotline.
Rebuilding a Defective Mirrored Array
If one hard disk of a mirrored array fails to function, you will receive the error
message "Incomplete RAID set" from the DC-150 RAID BIOS while booting your
computer. To rebuild the defective mirrored array, carry out the following steps:
-
Check the connections of the defective hard disk. In case of a physical fault of
the hard disk it must be replaced by a new hard disk which with regard to its size
must at least correspond to the hard disk still intact.
-
Start the computer and call up the DC-150 RAID BIOS by pressing the keys
<Ctrl+S> or <F4>.
-
You will now have to dissolve the logical connection to the defective hard disk by
deleting the old mirrored array (No data is lost while doing this). Now you can
create a new mirrored array as described in chapter 4.2. Please note that the older
hard disk must be defined as source disk.
11. BIOS Update
The most recent BIOS is available on our website www.dawicontrol.com.
Download the driver for the DC-150 RAID; the BIOS directory of the driver contains
the flash utility "flash 150" and the actual BIOS "bios 150.bin". In order to flash, boot
in MS-DOS mode; under Windows (even in a DOS box) the update cannot be carried
out. Go to the \BIOS directory and enter "flash 150". Flashing the EPROM now starts
automatically. Then reboot your computer.
