5. Setting the BRITA Memo replacement indicator for the
MicroDisc
One MicroDisc can filter up to 150 litres of mains water. To ensure
optimal filtration and hygiene, BRITA recommends that the Micro-
Disc is replaced once a month. Your BRITA Memo (1) will remind
you when to replace your MicroDisc. After you have inserted a new
MicroDisc, hold down the "START" button until all four bars appear
in the display and flash twice. A dot flashes in the bottom right-hand
corner of the display; this indicates "Memo" in operation" (Fig. h).
Change the MicroDisc when all bars have disappeared and the emp-
ty display starts to flash (Fig. i).
III. Important information
The Water Filter Carafe may only be used with municipally treated
mains water provided by your local water authority. In principle, mains
water meets the statutory requirements for drinking water quality. In the
event that an instruction is received from the authorities to boil mains
water, this also applies to BRITA filtered water. Once the instruction
no longer applies, please clean the bottle thoroughly and insert a new
MicroDisc. For certain groups of people (e.g. babies and people with
impaired immunity), it is generally recommended to boil mains water,
whether it is filtered or not.
BRITA filtered water is a perishable food intended for human consump-
tion; you should therefore use the water in your Water F ilter Carafe
within one day. Please keep the filled carafe in the fridge. Avoid storing
the carafe in direct sunlight. BRITA recommends using a new MicroDisc
if the carafe has not been used for an extended period of time.
For constant filtration performance and to ensure that you always
have fresh filtered water at hand, BRITA recommends preventing the
MicroDisc from drying out. In some regions, the filtration of mains water
containing particles can result in a significantly slow flow rate. In such
cases, we recommend changing the MicroDisc more often.
To prepare coffee or tea, or to protect your domestic appliances against
limescale build-up, BRITA recommends using a BRITA system in which
the MAXTRA+ cartridge, for example, is used.
Regular contact with mains water that contains limescale may cause
limescale deposits to form. Remove these deposits regularly using a
common household citric acid descaling fluid.
Carefully wipe remains from strongly coloured foods (e.g. ketchup or
mustard) off immediately. Do not wash your Water Filter C arafe along-
side crockery that has the remains of strongly coloured foods. This will
prevent any possible discolouration.
Always store the spare MicroDiscs in a cool, dry place and ensure that
they are tightly sealed.
At the end of the service life of your electronic MicroDisc replacement
indicator, remember that it must be disposed of according to the appli-
cable regulations and statutory requirements.
To remove the BRITA Memo (for its disposal only!), simply insert a
screwdriver into the notch on the edge of the BRITA Memo and prise it
out.
Dispose of used MicroDiscs in your general waste. Dispose of the
carafe in accordance with local provisions.
