Instructions for use
I. Congratulations on purchasing your BRITA Water Filter
Carafe
Thank you for choosing a quality product from BRITA. The innovative
BRITA Water Filter Carafe is based on the unique Pure-Taste-Technol-
ogy: Activated natural carbon made from coconut shells filters chlorine
and other taste impairing substances, micro particles ≥ 30 μm as well
as trace impurities such as certain pesticides, herbicides and hor-
mones*.
*if present in tap water At the same time minerals such as calcium (Ca)
and magnesium (Mg) pass through the filter and remain in your water.
II. For quality from the very start
1. Cleaning and maintaining the carafe
The Water Filter Carafe must be cleaned before you use it for the first
time. Regularly clean your carafe at least once a week, either by hand
using a mild detergent or in the dishwasher. Disassemble all parts
before putting them in the dishwasher. Only clean the lid with BRITA
Memo (2) by hand. Do not use any sponges with abrasive surfac-
es. Before cleaning, always remove the MicroDisc (6) and store the
MicroDisc on a clean surface during the cleaning process. To ensure
an optimum level of hygiene, we recommend placing the MicroDisc in a
clean cup every week and pouring boiling water over it. If the MicroDisc
floats to the surface, use a spoon to hold the MicroDisc to the bottom
of the cup. After five minutes, you can reinsert the MicroDisc into the
water filter. Please make sure that your hands are clean when touching
the filter system.
2. Preparing the MicroDisc
Fig. a) Before using the MicroDisc for the first time, rinse both sides
of the disc thoroughly under running water for approx. 30 seconds to
remove any activated carbon dust that may have adhered to it. When
you fill the carafe for the first time, this activates the MicroDisc. BRITA
recommends that you pour away the water from the first filling. Your
MicroDisc is ready to use after filling the carafe for the second time.
3. Inserting the MicroDisc
Fig. b) Unscrew the inner funnel along with drainage ring anti-clockwise
from the carafe.
Fig. c) Then unscrew the MicroDisc holder (7)
Fig. d) Insert the MicroDisc into the top part of the MicroDisc holder
(5). Screw the lower part of the MicroDisc holder back on again. Then
screw the funnel back onto the carafe.
4. Filling the carafe
Fig. e) Fill the funnel with cold mains water. The water in the funnel is
automatically filtered and flows into the carafe.
Fig. f) Put the lid on the carafe before serving to prevent unfiltered water
from being poured out of the funnel.
Fig. g) Serve your freshly filtered water straight from the carafe.
